MKS Dąbrowa Górnicza (basketball)
MKS Dąbrowa Górnicza is a Polish professional basketball team based in Dąbrowa Górnicza. The team currently plays in the PLK since 2014. History The basketball section of MKS Dąbrowa Górnicza was found in 1992. In 2003, the club started acting on the national third level. It played for several years in the 2 Liga, until the team won the championship in 2007–08 and was promoted. The team remained in the 1 Liga for the next 6 seasons. In 2009–10 the team was close to promotion to the PLK but failed to beat Siarka Tarnobrzeg. MKS was offered a spot in the 2014–15 PLK season as a wild card because of the expansion from 12 to 16 teams. Polish Basketball League
Polska Liga Koszykówki (PLK) (English language, English: Polish Basketball League) is a professional men's club basketball list of basketball leagues, league in Poland. It constitutes the first and highest-tier level of the Polish basketball league system, Polish league pyramid. The winning team of the final round are crowned the Polish Champions of that season. It began in 1947–48, with the name of I Liga, and was originally organized by the Polish Basketball Federation. The league changed to its current form, beginning with the 1997–98 season, after the Polska Liga Koszykówki SA, PLK SA (the Polish Basketball League Joint-stock company) took control over the league (the PLK SA was created in 1995). In 2000–01 season the league turned professional. The PLK, which is played under FIBA Europe, FIBA rules, currently consists of 16 teams. 2017–18 PLK Season
The 2017–18 Polish Basketball League (PLK) season, the Energa Basket Liga for sponsorship reasons, was the 84th season of the Polish Basketball League, the highest professional basketball league in the Poland. The season started on 30 September 2017 and ended 4 June 2018. Anwil Włocławek won its second ever title in club history. Teams Polfarmex Kutno and Siarka Tarnobrzeg were relegated to the I Liga after finishing in the 15th and 16th place in the 2016–17 PLK season. Legia Warsaw promoted to the PLK 15 years later, after winning the I Liga championship. On July 28, 2017, the PLK announced it expanded the number of teams to 17 by giving a wild card to GTK Gliwice, the runner-up of the I Liga. Kerron Johnson
Kerron Tyre Johnson Jr. (born December 14, 1990) is an American professional basketball player who last played for Spójnia Stargard of the Polish Basketball League (PLK). He played college basketball for Belmont University before playing professionally in New Zealand, Germany, France, Poland, Italy and Israel. High school career Johnson attended Madison Academy in Madison, Alabama. In his senior year, he averaged 24 points, six assists, five rebounds and two steals per game for the 29-6 Mustangs. Rashaun Broadus
Rashaun Eneal Broadus (born August 5, 1984) is an American-born naturalized Albanian former professional basketball player. Born in Seattle, Washington, he attended Mililani High School in Mililani, Hawaii. A tall point guard, Broadus then competed for Western Nebraska Community College before transferring to BYU, where he became a starter at the NCAA Division I level. As a professional, Broadus played his rookie season with the Romanian team CSU Brașov. In the following years, he had stints in the top leagues of Ukraine and Lithuania, earning All-Star honors in the latter. Most notably, the point guard took part in the EuroCup with Lietuvos rytas in 2016. Broadus has also competed for MKS Dąbrowa Górnicza in Poland and with the German team Rasta Vechta of the ProA. More recently, he played with the St. John's Edge of the NBL Canada. The 2018–19 Polish Basketball League (PLK) season, the Energa Basket Liga for sponsorship reasons, was the 85th season of the Polish Basketball League, the highest professional basketball league in the Poland. Anwil Włocławek defended its title and repeated as Polish champions. Teams Czarni Słupsk withdrew during the 2017–18 PLK season because of financial problems. On 17 May 2018, Spójnia Stargard promoted to the PLK as the winners of the I Liga, after defeating Sokół Łańcut 3–0 in the playoff finals. The 2018 Polish Basketball Cup ( pl, Puchar Polski 2018) was the 54th edition of Poland's national cup competition for men basketball teams. It was managed by the Polish Basketball League (PLK) and was held in Warsaw, in the Arena Ursynów in February 2018. Polski Cukier Toruń won its first-ever Cup title in club history. Qualified teams The eight first qualified after the first half of the 2017–18 PLK season qualified to the tournament. The highest placed four teams would play the lowest seeded teams in the quarter-finals. 2016–17 PLK Season
The 2016–17 Polish Basketball League was the 83rd season of the highest professional basketball tier in Poland and the 21st since the foundation of the Polish Basketball League. Teams As finishing in one of the two last positions during the two previous seasons, Siarka Tarnobrzeg lost its right to participate in the PLK. However, the club was invited to join the league. As champion of the previous I Liga, Miasto Szkła Krosno was promoted. After the ejection of Śląsk Wrocław, the league was played by 17 teams. The intention of PLK is to reduce the number of clubs in the PLK to 16 and to eliminate contracts by introducing regular promotions and relegations. For this season, three teams will be relegated to the I Liga.
