MGM Cotai
MGM Cotai is a casino resort in Cotai, Macau, China that opened on the 13th of February in 2018. It is owned by MGM Resorts International. MGM Cotai is its second property in Macau, the first being the MGM Macau. The hotel consists of 1,390 rooms and suites, a 2000-seat MGM Theater, a casino, meeting spaces, and a retail promenade. It also features the world's largest art garden, Nature's Art, which houses over 100,000 plants and more than 2,000 plant species, including several previously extinct species. The hotel was featured in Series 3 on the BBC television series '' Amazing Hotels: Life Beyond the Lobby''. Design and construction Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates, it was constructed at a cost of $3.4 billion. Cotai
Cotai (; pt, Zona do Aterro de Cotai) is a piece of newly reclaimed land on top of Seac Pai Bay between Taipa and Coloane islands in Macau, that has made two independent islands become one island, since 2005. The word (a portmanteau of Coloane and Taipa) can also refer to the entire new island which was formed by the reclamation. In the second sense, the Special Administrative Region of Macau now consists of the Macau Peninsula plus Cotai Island, about a mile to the south. Cotai was created to provide Macau with a new gambling and tourism area since Macau is so densely populated and land is scarce, and many hotels and casinos can be found there now. The Emporis Skyscraper Award was an award for architectural excellence regarding the design of buildings and their functionality. The award was presented annually by Emporis, a real estate data mining company with headquarters in Hamburg, Germany. The award is given to the building representing the "Best new skyscraper for design and functionality".
