MACBDA
The Mid-America Competing Band Directors Association (MACBDA) was a governing body and summer high school marching band competition circuit based in the Upper Midwest. The circuit's competitive season traditionally began in June, and previously included field, parade, and concert band competitions hosted throughout the Midwestern United States. Beginning in 2008, almost all competitive events were hosted in Wisconsin and Minnesota, and were limited to field band competitions with occasional parade band presentations. The most recent circuit championship was at Perkins Stadium, in Whitewater, Wisconsin on July 14, 2019. The association had twenty-five member bands in 2008, but only five remained active . Columbus Saints Drum And Bugle Corps
Columbus Saints Drum and Bugle Corps is an all-age drum and bugle corps based in Columbus, Ohio. The corps is a member of Drum Corps Associates (DCA), and also competes in Drum Corps International All-Age Class. History Founded as the Saints Drumline in 2003 by Marshall Cheatham; a social worker, and juvenile corrections officer, the corps began as an after-school musical outlet for kids. In 2012, the drumline expanded into a drum and bugle corps using a stock of G major bugles. The corps partnered with the Boys & Girls Club of Columbus in 2014 to provide free music programs for club members in the Franklinton neighborhood. The "BOOM" performance ensemble resulted from this partnership. The Saints completed a one-year residency at Flex High School, a charter school supported by the United Way of Central Ohio, in 2017. Perkins Stadium
Perkins Stadium is a stadium in Whitewater, Wisconsin. Primarily used for American football, it is the home field of the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater "Warhawks". Opened in 1970 as Warhawks Stadium, the facility originally held 11,000 people. It was renamed Perkins Stadium on September 14, 1996, in honor of former football coach Forrest Perkins. The stadium hosts the MACBDA Championships and the WSMA State Marching Band Championships. Drum Corps International held its annual Drum & Bugle Corps World Championships at the stadium in 1972 and 1973. The stadium received new synthetic turf, bench areas, landscaping and other improvements, including upgrades to the entrance area and scoreboard, in 2008. A marching band is a group of instrumental musicians who perform while marching, often for entertainment or competition. Sun Prairie East High School (SPEHS) is a public high school in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, United States. It is one of two high schools in the Sun Prairie Area School District, the other being Sun Prairie West High School.
