The M74 is a short metropolitan route in Sandton, South Africa. It connects the suburb of Bryanston with Rivonia, Morningside and Marlboro. Route The M74 begins at a junction with Grosvenor Road ( M64). It heads north-east as Bryanston Drive until it reaches Winnie Mandela Drive ( M81). Here the route turns east and after a short distance crosses Main Road ( M71) continuing eastward as Bryanston Drive before turning south-east. It crosses the Braamfontein Spruit still as Bryanston Drive and into Morningside and eventually reaches Rivonia Drive ( M9). Co-signed with the M9 it heads south on Rivonia Road before leaving the latter, close to the Morningside Clinic, heading eastwards as South Road past Stathavon crossing Bowling Avenue ( M85) into Kramerville. M9 is a major metropolitan route in Johannesburg, South Africa. Passing through the heart of the Witwatersrand, it connects the southern suburbs of Johannesburg via the centre of Johannesburg, with the northern suburbs and business centres of Rosebank and Sandton before ending in the outer northern suburbs. Route The southern terminus begins as T-junction with Turf Club Street in Turffontein. From this junction, it heads north as Turffontein Road passing the Turffontein Racecourse on its right. Braamfontein Spruit
The Braamfontein Spruit (from the Afrikaans for "spring of brambles") is the longest stream in Johannesburg, South Africa. It originates in Barnato Park High School, Braamfontein. It is covered and canalised near its source, but once the river runs out of the Parkview Golf Course, it runs through parkland, right to the edge of the city, so that Johannesburgers can still enjoy it in its original state. Walkers, runners and cyclists use a path along its banks every weekend in Gauteng, South Africa. From Berea the stream runs through Pieter Roos Park, down Empire Road to the Frank Brown Park, then on towards the German School in Parktown. The stream then flows towards the Parkview Golf Course, where sections of it are canalised. Starting in the northern CBD, it connects the centre of Johannesburg with the northern suburbs before ending in the outer northern city of Midrand. As Empire Road is a dual carriage way, the west/east road is signed as the M71 while the east/west route is cosigned with the M17. Route The M64 starts at a junction with the M85 route (Katherine Street) in Sandton Central (Sandown).
