The M68 is a short metropolitan route in Johannesburg, South Africa. It connects the south-western part of Soweto ( Protea South) with Mulbarton via Diepkloof, Southgate and Glenvista. Route The M68 begins at an interchange with the N12 Moroka Bypass and the R554 Road just north of Lenasia. It begins by going northwards as Abu Baker Asvat Drive up to the next junction in Protea South (south of Protea Glen), where it becomes Chris Hani Road eastwards. It goes east-north-east through Soweto for 10 kilometres as Chris Hani Road, meeting the M72, M77 and M10 roads, to reach a junction with the M83 Road and pass by the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital. It proceeds eastwards as Old Potchefstroom Road, through the southern part of Diepkloof, to exit Soweto and fly over the N1 Highway adjacent to the N1's interchange with the N12 Highway ( Johannesburg Southern Bypass). Lenasia
Lenasia, often called Lenz, is a suburb south of Soweto in the Gauteng province, South Africa, originally created to house Indians. It is part of the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality. Lenasia is approximately 35 kilometres southwest of the Johannesburg Central Business District and 45 kilometres south of the Sandton Central Business District. History Early history Apartheid-era planners situated the group area for Johannesburg's Indians near the Lenz Military Base. It originates from 1958. The name "Lenasia" is thought to be a combination of the words "Lenz" and "Asia". The Lenz in question was one Captain Lenz who owned the original plot on which Lenasia is situated. M7 is a metropolitan route in the Greater Johannesburg metropolitan area. The road connects Thokoza and the southern suburbs of Alberton with suburbs to the west of the Johannesburg CBD. Route The M7 begins at a t-junction with Hill Road east of Zonkizizwe. It goes westwards as Dihlabakela Road, meeting the southern terminus of the M53 Route, to pass through the southern part of Katlehong and Thokoza. It flies over a railway and over the M61 Route (Vereeniging Road) to enter the Alrode South suburb of Alberton, where it reaches a T-junction with Kliprivier Drive. Mondeor
Mondeor is a suburb of Johannesburg, South Africa. It is located in Region F of the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality. Known as the Jewel of the South, Mondeor is set amongst hills outside the urban Johannesburg area but is only a 15-minute drive from the city centre. History The suburb is situated on part of an old Witwatersrand farm called Ormonde. It was established in 1958 and its name is an anagram of the old name of the farm. Parks and green space Parts of the Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve are in Mondeor. The hills lying on the northern side of Mondeor are of sandstone, and those on the south are igneous. The highway connects the southern areas (including Booysens, Eldorado Park and Soweto) with the city centre and extends further north through Sandton into the Ben Schoeman Highway towards Pretoria. The R82 is a provincial route in South Africa that connects Johannesburg with Kroonstad via Vereeniging and Sasolburg. It starts just south of the M1 Johannesburg Municipal Highway's interchange with the N12 Southern Bypass (Uncle Charlie's Interchange), going south, meeting the R59, R54, R42 & R28 routes at Vereeniging before crossing the Vaal River into the Free State & proceeding to Kroonstad. It is an alternative, but longer route to the N1 National Route between Johannesburg & Kroonstad. The R553 is a Regional Route in Gauteng, South Africa that connects Johannesburg with Vanderbijlpark via Lenasia and Sebokeng. It is known as the ''Golden Highway'' for much of its length. Route Its northern terminus is an interchange with the M1 in the southern suburbs of Johannesburg, Gauteng (southbound only). It heads south-west as the Golden Highway and forms an intersection with the M68 road (Columbine Avenue) in Southgate, west of Southgate Shopping Centre and east of Soweto, before meeting the western terminus of the M38 road.
