The M10 is a metropolitan route in the City of Cape Town Metropolitan Municipality, South Africa. It connects the town of Bellville with Philippi on the Cape Flats. Route The M10 begins at a junction with the R102 (Voortrekker Road) in Bellville Central. It begins by heading southwards as Robert Sobukwe Drive through Bellville South to reach a junction with the M189, where it continues by a right turn (still named Robert Sobukwe Drive). The M10 continues south-west, bypassing Belhar, to reach a junction with the M12 (Stellenbosch Arterial). It continues south-west to meet the northern terminus of the M22, which provides an entrance to Cape Town International Airport. R102 (South Africa)
The R102 is a Regional Route in South Africa. It is the route designation for all old sections of the N2, thus it is a discontinuous road that resumes in areas where a new N2 has been constructed. Route Western Cape and Eastern Cape In the Cape Town area, the R102 starts in the Central Business District and runs through Woodstock, Maitland, Goodwood and Parow before it reaches Bellville. From Bellville, it turns in a southeasterly direction and goes on the outskirts of the city through Kuils River, Eerste River and onwards to Somerset West where it merges with the existing N2. Philippi Horticultural
The Philippi Horticultural area is a large semi-urban semi-rural area of Philippi in Cape Town's Cape Flats region, in the Western Cape province of South Africa. The horticultural area is sparsely populated compared to the surrounding city and contains many farms. The 2011 national census recorded 6,618 residents living in the area with an additional 2,961 residents living in the Knole Park community in the central western part of the area. History Prior to European settlement in the 1600s nomadic Khoi and San used the land for grazing their animals and hunting for food. The first recorded community of local residents in the Philippi area was in 1833 during which time it was known as "Die Duine" (The Dunes). The M7, also named Jakes Gerwel Drive (previously Vanguard Drive; renamed on 18 January 2015), is a limited-access road and metropolitan route in the City of Cape Town, South Africa. It connects Acacia Park with Rocklands on the False Bay Coast via the Cape Flats. Route The M7 begins at an interchange with the N1 Highway and the southern terminus of the N7 Highway adjacent to Acacia Park. The M12 is a long metropolitan route in the City of Cape Town, South Africa. It connects Burgundy Estate with Stellenbosch via Parow, Elsie's River and Kuils River. Route The M12 begins at a junction with the M13 in the Burgundy Estate in Milnerton, north of Cape Town. It begins by going eastwards for a few metres as Sienna Drive before turning southwards as Giel Basson Drive. It flies over the M14 (Plattekloof Road) and meets the M8 (Bosmansdam Road) before separating the Monte Vista and Panorama suburbs and flying over the N1 Highway. The Cape Flats ( af, Die Kaapse Vlakte) is an expansive, low-lying, flat area situated to the southeast of the central business district of Cape Town. The Cape Flats is also the name of an administrative region of the City of Cape Town, which lies within the larger geographical area. Geology and geography In geological terms, the area is essentially a vast sheet of aeolian sand, ultimately of marine origin, which has blown up from the adjacent beaches over a period on the order of a hundred thousand years. Below the sand, the bedrock is in general the Malmesbury Shale, except on part of the western margin between Zeekoevlei to the south and Claremont and Wetton to the north, where an intrusive mass of Cape Granite is to be found. Bellville, South Africa
Bellville is a town in the Western Cape province of South Africa. It is situated adjacent to the Koelberg Mountains and also the University of Western Cape where it has its own campus. Established It was founded as "12 Mile Post" (Afrikaans: "12-Myl-Pos") because it is located 12 miles (20 km) from Cape Town city centre. It was first known as "Hardekraaltjie".
