Moldova participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 with the song "Lăutar" written by Pasha Parfeny and Alex Brașoveanu. The song was performed by Pasha Parfeny. The Moldovan broadcaster TeleRadio-Moldova (TRM) organised the national final ''O melodie pentru Europa 2012'' in order to select the Moldovan entry for the 2012 contest in Baku, Azerbaijan. 85 entries competed to represent Moldova in Baku, with 21 being shortlisted to participate in the televised national final which took place on 11 March 2012 after auditioning in front of a jury panel. "Lăutar" performed by Pasha Parfeny emerged as the winner after gaining the most points following the combination of votes from a jury panel and a public televote. Moldova was drawn to compete in the first semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest which took place on 22 May 2012. Pasha Parfeny
Pavel Parfeni (born 30 May 1986), known professionally as Pasha Parfeny, is a Moldovan musician, singer and songwriter. He represented Moldova at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku, Azerbaijan, where he placed 11th with his song " Lăutar". He was formerly known for being the lead singer of the Moldovan band SunStroke Project. Biography Born in Orhei, Parfeny had been surrounded by music from a young age. His mother was a piano teacher at the local music school, while his father was a singer and a guitarist. While in Orhei, he studied piano from a young age, and in 2002 enrolled at Tiraspol Music College, where he gained more vocal experience. Geta Burlacu
Geta Burlacu (, born Georgeta Povorozniuc on 22 July 1974) is a Moldovan singer. She represented Moldova in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 with the song "A Century of Love” written by Vica Demici and Oleg Baraliuc. Career Burlacu began singing at age of seven. She studied violin at the music school in Bălți and graduated from the College of Music in Balti as a violinist. In 1993 she went to the Academy of Music in Chisinau to study jazz and folk music. After graduation in 1997, Burlacu stepped on the professional scene. She has performed in Germany, France, Ireland, Romania, Ukraine, Belarus, and China. Gaita-Lurdes Klaverivna Essami ( uk, Гайта-Лурдес Клаверівна Ессамі; born 24 March 1979), known professionally as Gaitana ( uk, Гайтана, Haitana), is a Ukrainian singer and songwriter. Ukraine participated in Eurovision Song Contest 2012 with the song "Be My Guest" written by Gaitana and Kiwi Project. The song was performed by Gaitana. The Ukrainian broadcaster National Television Company of Ukraine (NTU) organised a national final in order to select the Ukrainian entry for the 2012 contest in Baku, Azerbaijan. Sinplus is an alternative rock duo made up of brothers Ivan and Gabriel Broggini originally from Locarno, Switzerland. Anatol Chiriac is a Moldovan composer. Biography Born in 1953. In 1979 he completed Stefan Neaga music college in Chişinău. In 1983 he recorded his first instrumental works LP, which has strong influence of James Last (e. g. use of panflute and others). Siegel is one of the most notable figures at the Eurovision Song Contest, in which he has participated with 24 songs so far, among them the 1982 winner song Ein bisschen Frieden.
