Ukraine In The Eurovision Song Contest 2012
Ukraine participated in Eurovision Song Contest 2012 with the song "Be My Guest" written by Gaitana and Kiwi Project. The song was performed by Gaitana. The Ukrainian broadcaster National Television Company of Ukraine (NTU) organised a national final in order to select the Ukrainian entry for the 2012 contest in Baku, Azerbaijan. Twenty-one entries competed in the national selection held on 18 February 2012 and "Be My Guest" performed by Gaitana was selected as the winner following the combination of votes from a seven-member jury panel and a public televote. Ukraine was drawn to compete in the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest which took place on 24 May 2012. Performing during the show in position 7, "Be My Guest" was announced among the top 10 entries of the second semi-final and therefore qualified to compete in the final on 26 May. Gaitana (singer)
Gaita-Lurdes Klaverivna Essami ( uk, Гайта-Лурдес Клаверівна Ессамі; born 24 March 1979), known professionally as Gaitana ( uk, Гайтана, Haitana), is a Ukrainian singer and songwriter. Essami's style of pop music has been described as containing elements of jazz, funk, soul, and folk. She represented Ukraine in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku, performing the song " Be My Guest" and placing 15th in the final. Ukraine participated in Eurovision Song Contest 2010 with the song " Sweet People" written by Borys Kukoba, Vadim Lisitsa and Olena Kucher. The song was performed by Alyosha, which is the artistic name of singer Olena Kucher. Vasyl Lazarovych was internally selected in December 2009 by the Ukrainian broadcaster National Television Company of Ukraine (NTU) to represent Ukraine at the 2010 contest in Oslo, Norway, while his song was selected through a national final held on 5 March 2010. Five songs competed in the national selection and "I Love You" was selected as the winning song following the combination of votes from a six-member jury panel and a public televote. After objections to the internal selection of Lazarovych, NTU organised a new open national final which was held on 20 March 2010. Career Early life Alyosha was born on 14 May 1986 in Zaporizhia. Olha Yuriivna Polyakova ( uk, Ольга Юріївна Полякова; born 17 January 1979) is a Ukrainian singer, TV presenter, and comedian known as ''Super Blonde''. Siegel is one of the most notable figures at the Eurovision Song Contest, in which he has participated with 24 songs so far, among them the 1982 winner song Ein bisschen Frieden.
