Lê Tấn Tài
Lê Tấn Tài (born 4 January 1984) is a Vietnamese former footballer, and former captain of the Vietnam national football team, where he plays as a central midfielder. He last played for Khánh Hòa in the V.League 2. International career Tan Tai, along with other Vietnam national team members, attended Vietnam's first AFC Asian Cup in 2007 that was hosted in Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia. In 2008, he helped Vietnam win their first ever AFF Championship trophy. Since Henrique Calisto comes in charge of the national team, Tai is moved to play in the more central role in the midfield. He plays as the highest midfielder in Calisto's one-striker system. After the 2014 AFF Championship, Tan Tai announced his retirement from international football. AFC Asian Cup
The AFC Asian Cup is the primary association football competition contested by the senior men's national teams of the members of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), determining the continental champion of Asia. It is the second oldest continental football championship in the world after Copa América. The winning team becomes the champion of Asia and until 2015 qualified for the FIFA Confederations Cup. The Asian Cup was held once every four years from the 1956 edition in Hong Kong until the 2004 tournament in China. Football At The 2006 Asian Games
Football at the 2006 Asian Games was held in Doha, Qatar from 18 November to 15 December 2006. The opening match was played 14 days prior to the opening ceremony. In this tournament, some 30 teams played in the men's competition, and 8 teams participated in women's competition. Turkmenistan, and Yemen withdrew from the competition before playing their first match. The organisation announced a new competition format because of this. Instead of only the group winners of the first round to go through to the second round, now also both runners-up qualified. Later India also announced their retirement, however they remained in the tournament on a "no cost to government basis". Iran was taken out of competition prior to their first match, due to a suspension by FIFA. However, FIFA lifted the suspension on Iran under-23 team on 26 November 2006 so they returned to the original Group D stage. The Grand Hamad Stadium ( ar, استاد حمد الكبير), also known as the Al–Arabi Sports Club Stadium, is a multi-purpose stadium in Doha, Qatar. Paglaum Stadium
The Paglaum Sports Complex is a sports venue in Bacolod, Philippines adjacent to the Negros Occidental High School. It was established during the administration of Governor Alfredo Montelibano Jr. in the 1970s. It hosted three editions of the Palarong Pambansa (1971, 1974, 1979). The complex was under supervision of the Department of Education (DepEd) until 2011. DepEd and the provincial government of Negros Occidental signed a compromise agreement where in DepEd returned the supervision of the complex to the provincial government. In 2012, a two-hectare portion of the four-hectare Paglaum Sports Complex was partitioned for the construction of the Capitol-owned Negros First CyberCentre (NFCC) as an IT-BPO Outsourcing Hub. The 2014 AFF Championship, sponsored by Suzuki and officially known as the 2014 AFF Suzuki Cup, was the 10th edition of the AFF Championship, an international association football competition consisting of national teams of member nations of the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF). Co-hosting rights to the group stages were awarded to Singapore and Vietnam with matches held from 22 November to 20 December 2014. Meanwhile, Malaysia, the Philippines and Thailand also hosted knockout stage matches, as their teams advanced to the semi-finals with Vietnam. Singapore were the defending champions, but were eliminated in the group stage. Henrique Calisto
Henrique Manuel da Silva Calisto (born 16 October 1953) is a Portuguese retired footballer who played as a right back, and is a manager. After his playing career ended he became a manager, taking charge of numerous clubs, mainly in Portugal, and also managed the Vietnamese national team. Playing career Born in Matosinhos, Calisto played three seasons in the Primeira Liga with local Leixões SC. His best output consisted of 17 matches (one goal) in 1973–74, with the team finishing in 14th position. Calisto retired from professional football in June 1978 at only 24, after one season with A.D. Fafe in the second division. 2008 AFF Championship
The 2008 AFF Championship was the seventh edition of the tournament. It was primarily sponsored by Suzuki and therefore officially known as the 2008 AFF Suzuki Cup. The group stage was held in Indonesia and Thailand from 5 to 10 December 2008. Two-legged home-and-away semi-finals and finals were held between 16 and 28 December 2008. Singapore were the defending champions, but were eliminated by Vietnam in the semi-finals. Vietnam won the tournament by a 3–2 victory in the two-legged final against Thailand to win their first title. Summary The tournament would originally have been hosted by Myanmar because of the rotation system among ASEAN countries, however, they withdrew in August 2007 due to security concerns.
