Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality (occasionally spelled Lyngby-Tårbæk) is a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in the Capital Region of Denmark near Copenhagen on the eastern coast of the island of Zealand (Danish: ''Sjælland''). It is part of the Greater Copenhagen area. The municipality borders Rudersdal Municipality to the north, Furesø Municipality to the west and Gladsaxe and Gentofte Municipality to the south. Lyngby Kongevej
Secondary route 201 (Danish: Sekundærrute 201) is a numbered road in North Zealand to the north of Copenhagen, Denmark, consisting of Lyngby Omfartsvej, a motorway bypass avoiding Lyngby Hovedgade (Lyngby Main Street), and Kongevejen which links Kongens Lyngby in the south with Hillerød in the north by way of Holte, Birkerød and Blovstrød. The road originates in a royal road which was built in 1587 between Copenhagen and Frederiksborg Castle, Frederick II's new North Zealand residence. The southern part of the road has now been replaced by Lyngbyvej and the southernmost portion of Helsingør Motorway (before 2005. Lyngby Motorway). Lyngby Søndre Mølle
Lyngby Søndre Mølle, literally Lyngby Southern Mill, is a defunct watermill on Mølleåen located at Lyngby Hovedgade, Kongens Lyngby, in the northern suburbs of Copenhagen, Denmark. The current building is from 1902. The name distinguishes it from nearby Lyngby Nordre Mølle. History A watermill in Lyngby is first mentioned in 1492 and was then owned by the crown, although it may be several hundred years older. In the 17th and 18th century, it was used both as a rolling mill and as a paper mill. It became known as Lyngby Søndre Mølle after a second water mill was built a little further to the north in circa 1762. Both watermills are seen on a map of the mew royal road to Frederiksborg Castle from 1765. Lyngby station is a station on the Hillerød radial of the S-train network in Copenhagen, Denmark. It is located centrally in Kongens Lyngby. With its large bus terminal, situated on the east side of the station, it is an important hub for public transport in the northern suburbs of Copenhagen. The station building contains a shopping arcade with circa 15 stores, including two supermarkets. The station opened in 1863. Bondebyen
Bondebyen (''Pesants' Town'' in Danish) is a historical neighbourhood of Kongens Lyngby. It is considered the best-preserved country town of the Copenhagen area, albeit it is now in the middle of the heavily urbanized Lyngby-Taarbæk municipality. Among the notable buildings is the house of Støvlet-Cathrine, as well as Lindegaarden (''Linden Farm''), built between 1841–1883. Høstvej nr. 4, ''Vilhelminelyst'', was Gyrithe Lemche's ancestral home. The known jurist Janus Kolderup-Rosenvinge lived in Høstvej nr. 6, and the merchant J. Fr. Tutein lived in Asylgade nr. 7. North Zealand
North Zealand, also North Sealand ( da, Nordsjælland), refers to the northern part of the Danish island of Zealand which is not clearly defined but generally covers the area north of Copenhagen. The Capital Region of Denmark ( da, Region Hovedstaden, ) is the easternmost administrative region of Denmark. The Capital Region has 29 municipalities and a regional council consisting of 41 elected members. Nordbanen
Nordbanen is one of six radial S-train lines in Copenhagen. It connects Copenhagen city center with several northern suburbs, and the cities of Hillerød, Birkerød and Allerød Stations Service patterns The weekday service consists of service A which stops at all stations until Holte, and E which runs with limited stops until Holte and then stops at all stations until Hillerød. Ingrid Jespersen
Ingrid Jespersen (1867–1938) was a Danish pedagogue and school principal. The founder of Copenhagen's Ingrid Jespersens Gymnasieskole in 1894, initially a primary school for girls, she introduced a number of groundbreaking measures in support of girls' education in Denmark. Bibliography The daughter of the bookseller Edvard Julius Marie Jespersen (1831–1904) and his wife Henriette Klein (1831–1922), Jespersen was born in Lyngby on 24 January 1867. Raised in Copenhagen with her siblings, from the age of 11 she set her mind on becoming a headmistress. After attending N. Zahle's School, she completed teacher training at N. Zahle's seminary in 1889 and went on to qualify as a school principal in 1891. For the next three years she was not only head of Elisabeth Gad's School but taught women at the ''Hjælpeforening for kvindelige Haandarbejder'' under L.I. Brandes.
