Luxembourg (band)
Luxembourg are an English five-piece indie band. For most of their life, the lineup consisted of David Shah (lead singer), Rob Britton (guitar), Alex Potterill (keyboards), Jon Bacon (bass) and Steve Brummell (drums). Bassist Jon left the band at the end of 2006 and was replaced by David Barnett. Following the 2016 reformation Bacon and Barnett are in the band, while Potterill is not. Luxembourg have been compared to artists like Pulp, The Smiths and Pet Shop Boys and sometimes described as "pop noir." They released most of their music through their own record label Dogbox Records. The band broke up in 2008. They reunited on 15 October 2016 to play a gig at the Islington in London and have continued to gig and release music since then. History Luxembourg was formed in 2001 in London. Planet Sound was a Teletext music page on ITV and Channel 4 in the UK, active from 1997 until 2009. It was broadcast on analogue Teletext from page 340, and on digital Teletext from page 820. From 24 May 2007, Planet Sound was also available to read online via the Teletext website. The pages were all simultaneously updated daily at 10pm. History Teletext's predecessor ORACLE ran a similar music section in the 1980s. Future Planet Sound editor John Earls had reader reviews published, aged 14, in ORACLE's Blue Suede Views of 1987 albums by ABC, Pet Shop Boys and Westworld, under the pseudonym Jetty. Subliminal Girls
Subliminal Girls are a London based pop punk/disco band. Biography The band contain ex and current members of The Art Goblins, Rhesus, Ciccone, Video Club, Future and the Boy, Dizzy Moth and The Bridport Dagger. They released singles with Weekender Records, an EP on Pop Art Records and have supported The Bravery, Jamie T, The Rumblestrips, Klaxons, and Babyshambles. In 2007 the band signed to independent label Weekender records and released a double A sided single with tracks "Burn Koko" and "Mirror". The band's second single, a double A-Side, "Self Obsession is an Art Form" and "Hungry Like The Wolf" - a cover of Duran Duran - reached number 18 in the official Indie Charts in January 2008. They have worked on a concept single with the British artist, Stuart Semple, on a limited edition of 10 box sets that included special artwork. Brontosaurus Chorus
Brontosaurus Chorus was a London-based indie pop band. The group was formed by vocalist Jodie Lowther and bassist Dominic Green in 2006. History Green had spent the years prior to the band forming as an indie DJ and promoter (for Panic!, Baby Seal and PopArt) whilst playing in a variety of London-based bands (Go Rimbaud, Angels Fight The City, Abdoujaparov, and Circuits) and as a hired hand to friends Metro Corskol, The Violet Pets. Lowther and Green built the band up to include eight members including co-vocalist and guitarist Matthew Curtis, violinists Shalini Santhakumaran and Steph Fuller, cellist Helen Jackson, trumpet player El Stephenson and drummer Tom Harrison. The Boyfriends (UK Band)
The Boyfriends were an English indie rock, indie four-piece musical group from London, England, who consisted of Martin Wallace on vocals, Richard Adderley on guitar, David Barnett on bass and Paddy Pulzer on drums. Adderley and Pulzer had previous played together in Jack (band), Jack. They received press coverage in The Guardian The Independent and the NME which claimed the band was Morrissey's favourite new band. Career The band released a split single on 9 August 2004 with The Long Blondes. ''Drowned in Sound'', sometimes abbreviated to ''DiS'', is a UK-based music webzine financed by artist management company Silentway. Founded by editor Sean Adams, the site features reviews, news, interviews, and discussion forums. History ''DiS'' began as an email fanzine in 1998 called ''The Last Resort'' but was relaunched by founder and editor Sean Adams as ''Drowned in Sound'' in 2000. The freelance writing team is currently spread across four continents – North America, Asia, Europe and Australasia. Artrocker is a UK-based collective involved in music promotion and publishing. It was started by Paul Cox and Tom Fawcett who had been co-promoters of a London night called The Sausage Machine. Having started life with an online newsletter and event promotion in 2001, it has since expanded into various endeavours including a monthly magazine, various websites, a record label, video production, and a weekly radio show. Artrocker has a reputation for talent-spotting and supporting bands before they become well known. The ''Divine Comedy'' ( it, Divina Commedia ) is an Italian narrative poem by Dante Alighieri, begun 1308 and completed in around 1321, shortly before the author's death.
