Sir Thomas Luttrell (born before 1490 – died 1554 ) was a wealthy Anglo-Irish landowner of the sixteenth-century Irish Pale. He was also a distinguished lawyer and judge who held the offices of King's Serjeant, Solicitor General for Ireland and Chief Justice of the Irish Common Pleas. Simon Luttrell, 1st Earl of Carhampton (1713 – 14 January 1787), was an Anglo-Irish politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1754 to 1780. Biography He was the second son of Henry Luttrell, of Luttrellstown (whose family had held Luttrellstown since the land there had been granted to Sir Geoffrey de Luterel in about 1210 by King John of England) and his wife Elizabeth Jones. His father had been a noted commander in the Jacobite Irish Army between 1689 and 1691. He later received a pardon from the Williamite authorities and was accused by his former Jacobite comrades of having betrayed them. He was murdered when his sedan chair was attacked in Dublin in 1717. Simon Luttrell served as a Member of Parliament in the House of Commons of Great Britain for four constituencies: Mitchell (1755–1761), Wigan (1761–1768), Weobley (1768–1774) and Stockbridge (1774–1780). Edward Sydney "Sidney" Luttrell (20 June 1872 – 17 July 1932) and his brother Alfred Edward Luttrell (1865–1924) were partners of S. & A. Luttrell, a firm of architects and building contractors noted for its contributions to New Zealand architecture, both in terms of style and technology. The practice was established in Launceston, Tasmania in 1897 when Alfred who was operating his own architectural practice, went into partnership with his younger brother and former apprentice Sidney, under the original name A. & S. The Robert Luttrell who settled on the banks of the Liffey near Dublin at Luttrellstown, was in 1226 treasurer of St. Patrick's Cathedral and Archdeacon of Armagh, and in 1236 was Lord Chancellor of Ireland. There is mention of a Michael Luttrell in 1287, who owned the same estate at the close of the century, and later in 1349 of a Simon Luttrell, who died in the possession of the property.
