Thomas Luttrell (died 1571), of Dunster Castle in Somerset, feudal baron of Dunster, was a Member of Parliament for his family's newly enfranchised pocket borough of Minehead (two miles north-east of Dunster Castle), from 1563 to 1567 . He was Sheriff of Somerset in 1570–1. Origins He was the second son and eventual heir of Sir Andrew Luttrell (1484–1538), feudal baron of Dunster, Sheriff of Somerset and Dorset in 1528, whose monument exists in East Quantoxhead Church, by his wife Margaret Wyndham (d.1580), a daughter of Sir Thomas Wyndham (d.1521) of Felbrigg Hall in Norfolk. Thomas inherited the family estates on the death of his elder brother Sir John Luttrell (d.1551), a soldier who died without male progeny. Career He sold the Devon and Somerset estates, excepting Dunster Castle, apparently to meet debts. These were however "amply replaced" by the large estate inherited from his wife. Thomas Luttrell (1583–1644) was an English politician from Dunster Castle in Somerset. In 1625 he sat in the Useless Parliament as a Member of Parliament (MP) for his family's pocket borough of Minehead. Thomas Luttrell was the oldest son of George Luttrell of Dunster Castle and was baptized on 26 Feb 1583.Somerset Heritage Service, Somerset, EnglandChurch of England Baptisms, Marriages, and Burials, 1531-1812(Taunton, Somerset, England), Reference Number: D\P\du/2/1/1. He was educated at Lincoln College, Oxford and at Lincoln's Inn. He had inherited seven manors in north-west Somerset, and held numerous public offices in the county including Deputy Lieutenant from 1629 to at least 1640, and Sheriff in 1631–32. Thomas Luttrell (Irish Judge)
Sir Thomas Luttrell (born before 1490 – died 1554 ) was a wealthy Anglo-Irish landowner of the sixteenth-century Irish Pale. He was also a distinguished lawyer and judge who held the offices of King's Serjeant, Solicitor General for Ireland and Chief Justice of the Irish Common Pleas. Background He was born in Dublin, the eldest son of Richard Luttrell of Luttrellstown Castle, the head of a prominent Anglo-Irish family, which came originally from Lincolnshire, and his wife Margaret FitzLyons or FitzLeones, daughter of Patrick FitzLyons of Dublin. His exact date of birth is not recorded but it was almost certainly before 1490 since his first marriage took place in 1506.Ball, F. Thomas Fownes Luttrell (10 February 1763 – 19 January 1811) from Dunster Castle in Somerset was an English officer in the British Army and briefly a Tory politician. Like many previous generations of Luttrells since the 16th century, he was a Member of Parliament (MP) for Minehead, his family's pocket borough near Dunster. Early life and family Fownes Luttrell was the fifth surviving son of Henry Fownes Luttrell I (formerly Henry Fownes, –1780). His mother Margaret was the daughter of Alexander Luttrell (1705–1737), who had bequeathed his estates to Margaret on condition that her husband take the surname Luttrell. In 1782 Fownes Luttrell married Catherine Browne, daughter of John Cave Browne of Stretton-en-le-Field in Leicestershire. They had no children. Career Fownes Luttrell was educated at Blundell's School in Devon from 1772 to 1775. He then joined the British Army, becoming a lieutenant in the 89th Foot in 1783.
