Louth Junior 2B Football Championship
The Louth Junior 2B Football Championship is an annual knockout gaelic football competition organised by Louth GAA, contested by the second teams of Intermediate and Junior clubs in County Louth. Prior to 1994, the Louth Junior 2A Championship was the only knockout competition for clubs' second teams. That year, the County Board introduced a second knockout competition, confined to the Intermediate and Junior clubs, which would be known as the 2B Championship. Dreadnots GFC is a Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) club that fields gaelic football teams in competitions organised by Louth GAA. It is located in the south Louth seaside village of Clogherhead. The club has a local rivalry with neighbours St Fechin's. As of 2023, the club competes in the Louth Senior Championship and Division 1 of the county football Leagues. History The club was founded in 1887, making it one of the oldest active GAA clubs in County Louth. In 1889, Dreadnots reached the final of the Louth Senior Football Championship, losing to Newtown Blues by 1–02 to 0–03. O'Raghallaighs GFC is a Gaelic Athletic Association club from Drogheda, County Louth, Ireland. The club fields Gaelic football teams in competitions organised by Louth GAA. Dowdallshill GF & AC is a GAA club from Dundalk, County Louth, which fields Gaelic football teams in competitions organised by Louth GAA. Of the six gaelic football clubs in the Dundalk urban area, Dowdallshill is the only one located north of the Castletown River. History The Dowdallshill club was founded in 1886, making it one of the oldest gaelic football teams in Ireland. Glyde Rangers GFC is a Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) club that fields gaelic football teams in competitions organised by Louth GAA. It is based in the County Louth village of Tallanstown, eleven kilometres southwest of Dundalk. Dundalk Gaels GFC is a GAA club from Dundalk, County Louth, Ireland which fields Gaelic football teams in competitions organized by Louth GAA. Catchment area The club recruits members from such neighbourhoods as the Carrick Road, Avenue Road, Hill Street, Dublin Road and the Friary school area. Many past and present players of the Gaels were educated at Friary National school. Current status Managed by Cathal O'Hanlon, Gaels are currently the only Dundalk town club competing at senior championship level in Louth football. Stabannon Parnells GFC is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in Stabannon, County Louth, Ireland. The club is primarily concerned with the game of Gaelic football. History Located in the village of Stabannon, County Louth, Stabannon Parnells GFC was founded in 1933, however, the existence of Gaelic football teams in the parish predates the foundation of the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1884. Wolfe Tones GFC is a Gaelic Football club from Drogheda, County Louth, Ireland. It serves the residents of St Mary's Parish in south Drogheda and fields Gaelic football teams in competitions organised by Louth GAA. St Fechin's GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) club that fields teams in competitions organised by Louth GAA. It is located in the seaside village of Termonfeckin, part of Beaulieu parish. Former Louth county footballer Fr Shane Cullen helped found the club in 1941. Paddy McGlew, who played football with the club, was Chairman of Louth GAA from 1988 to 1991. In the late 1990s St Fechin's purchased a 27-acre site at Beaulieu, which would become their new home. The official opening was performed by then GAA president Seán Kelly in August 2003.
