Louis William Larsen
Louis William Larsen (January 16, 1892 – October 18, 1955) was a Danish-born farmer and political figure in Saskatchewan, Canada. He represented Shellbrook from 1948 to 1955 in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan as a Co-operative Commonwealth Federation (CCF) member. He was born Lauritz William Larsen, the son of C.P. Larsen and Marie Anne Peterson, was educated in Denmark and came to Canada in 1909. In 1920, Larsen married Florence Martha Gillies. Shellbrook (electoral District)
Shellbrook was a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of the province of Saskatchewan, Canada, in the area of Shellbrook, Saskatchewan, west of Prince Albert. Created as "Prince Albert" before the 1st Saskatchewan general election in 1905, this constituency was redrawn and renamed "Shellbrook" in 1912. The riding was again redrawn and renamed "Shellbrook-Torch River" in 1982, and abolished before the 23rd Saskatchewan general election in 1995 into Shellbrook-Spiritwood and Saskatchewan Rivers. Shellbrook-Spiritwood existed from 1995 to 2003. The former Shellbrook riding is now part of the districts of Rosthern-Shellbrook and Saskatchewan Rivers. The Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan is the legislative chamber of the Saskatchewan Legislature in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada. Bills passed by the assembly are given royal assent by the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan, in the name of the King in Right of Saskatchewan. The assembly meets at the Saskatchewan Legislative Building in Regina. There are 61 constituencies in the province, which elect members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) to the Legislative Assembly. Saskatchewan New Democratic Party
The Saskatchewan New Democratic Party (NDP) is a social-democratic political party in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. It currently forms the official opposition, but has been a dominant force in Saskatchewan politics since the 1940s. The party is the successor to the Saskatchewan section of the Co-operative Commonwealth Federation (CCF), and is affiliated with the federal New Democratic Party. Saskatchewan Wheat Pool
The Saskatchewan Wheat Pool was a grain handling, agri-food processing and marketing company based in Regina, Saskatchewan. The Pool created a network of marketing alliances in North America and internationally which made it the largest agricultural grain handling operation in the province of Saskatchewan. Before becoming Viterra, SWP had operated 276 retail outlets and more than 100 grain handling and marketing centres. The Saskatchewan Wheat Pool operated under the name of AgPro in the prairie provinces of Manitoba and Alberta. Begun as a co-operative in the 1920s, the company became a publicly traded corporation in the 1990s. After the 2007 takeover of its competitor, Winnipeg-based Agricore United, the Pool name was retired. Blaine Lake, Saskatchewan
Blaine Lake is a town in central Saskatchewan, Canada. It is located 85 km north of Saskatoon, 104 km southwest of Prince Albert and 104 km east of North Battleford at the junction of Highway 12 and Highway 40. Nearby are the urban centres of Shellbrook and Rosthern. Blaine Lake is considered the "Gateway to the Northern Lakes" due to its proximity to fishing, hunting and camping sites, as well as its convenient location at a junction of two highways. Wollaston Lake
Wollaston Lake is a lake in north-eastern Saskatchewan, Canada. It is northeast of Prince Albert. With a surface area of (excluding islands; if islands are included), it is the largest bifurcation lake in the world – that is, a lake that drains naturally in two directions. About 10% of the lake's water drains into the Fond du Lac River, which flows out of the lake to the north-west, where it drains into Lake Athabasca, which ultimately drains into the Arctic Ocean via the Mackenzie River system. The rest of the water drains into the Cochrane River, which flows out of the north-eastern side of the lake and into Reindeer Lake, which drains via the Churchill River system into Hudson Bay.
