Louder Than Hell (Manowar Album)
''Louder Than Hell'' is the eighth album by heavy metal band Manowar, released on October 1, 1996. It is the first album to feature guitarist Karl Logan, as well as the return of drummer Scott Columbus. Cover art was done by Ken Kelly. The songs "Brothers of Metal", "Courage" and "Number One" were demoed and played live by the band already in 1986, 10 years before their official album release. Manowar (band)
Manowar is an American heavy metal band from Auburn, New York. Formed in 1980, the group is known for lyrics based on fantasy (particularly sword and sorcery) and mythology (particularly Norse mythology and Greco-Roman mythology), as well as numerous songs celebrating the genre and its core audience. The band is also known for a loud and emphatic sound. In an interview for MTV in February 2007, bassist Joey DeMaio lamented that "these days, there's a real lack of big, epic metal that is drenched with crushing guitars and choirs and orchestras... so it's nice to be one of the few bands that's actually doing that". In 1984, the band was included in the Guinness Book of World Records for delivering the loudest performance, a record which they have since broken on two occasions. They also hold the world record for the longest heavy metal concert after playing for five hours and 1 minute in Bulgaria (at Kavarna Rock Fest) in 2008. Karl Logan
Karl Mojaleski (born April 28, 1965), known by his stage name Karl Logan, is an American musician and convicted sex offender, best known for being the former guitarist of the heavy metal band Manowar from 1994 to 2018. Biography Logan graduated Lakeland High School near Clifford, Pennsylvania in 1982. He joined Manowar in 1994 after local band gigs in northeastern Pennsylvania with Arc Angel (which also featured a post-Twisted Sister A. J. Pero on drums for a while) and Fallen Angel featuring Ed Collins. Logan relates in ''Hell on Earth Part I'' how he met Joey DeMaio by almost running him over with his motorcycle, which is how the two hit it off. Logan is a fan of dirt biking. In 2006, he suffered an arm injury which delayed Manowar's "Demons, Dragons and Warriors" tour and the release of the band's new album '' Gods of War''. George Marino
George Marino (April 15, 1947 – June 4, 2012) was an American mastering engineer known for working on albums by rock bands starting in the late 1960s. Biography Marino was born on April 15, 1947, in the New York City borough The Bronx. He attended Christopher Columbus High School there and learned to play the saxophone and bass fiddle in the high school band and was classically trained on guitar. Marino broke into the music business as a guitarist playing rock and roll in local New York City bands such as The Chancellors and The New Sounds Ltd. until most of the band members were drafted into the service for the war in Vietnam. In 1967, Marino landed his first job in the industry as a librarian and assistant at Capitol Studios. Soon after, he apprenticed in the mastering department alongside of Joe Lansky, cutting rock, pop, jazz and classical albums. David Richard Campbell (born 7 February 1948) is a Canadian-American arranger, composer, and conductor. Louis Marullo (born July 12, 1952), known professionally as Eric Adams, is an American singer who has been the frontman of the heavy metal band Manowar since its inception in 1980. Previously, he sang for the group Looks, which also included childhood friend and future Manowar bassist Joey DeMaio. His stage name is a combination of the names of his sons, Eric and Adam. Early life and education Louis Marullo was born in Auburn, New York. He first showed interest in music when he was nine years old, playing the guitar. When asked about his musical training, he said, "I took one voice lesson in my life. Joey DeMaio (born March 6, 1954) is an American musician who is the bass player and main songwriter for the heavy metal band Manowar which he founded in 1980. He is also the founder and CEO of Magic Circle Music. Biography He is a childhood friend of Manowar singer Eric Adams. DeMaio played bass in several school bands. In the 1970s, he toured with the musical ''Godspell'' (premiere in 1971 in New York City), taking musical lessons with the conductor. He worked as a pyro-tech for Black Sabbath during their " Heaven and Hell" tour. In 2006, shortly after creating the record label Magic Circle Music, DeMaio became a manager of the Italian metal band Rhapsody of Fire. He is also a producer for the band HolyHell HolyHell is an American symphonic power metal band formed in 2005 and produced by Joey DeMaio, bass player of Manowar. Scott Columbus (November 10, 1956 – April 5, 2011) was an American drummer, best known for his long period of collaboration with Heavy metal music, heavy metal band Manowar (band), Manowar. Biography Born Walter Scott Columbus, youngest of four children, two brothers Anthony & Tom and a sister Marilyn. Son of John A. Columbus and Amelia Columbus. He began to play the drums at age 6. Later on, during his 20s, grew up listening to such bands as Led Zeppelin, the Who, Black Sabbath and Cream (band), Cream while he would play in local bands such as Hell Hostage. Columbus was known to be loving and funny, often made jokes and was fun to be around. Ken W. Kelly (May 19, 1946 – June 2, 2022) was an American fantasy artist. Over his 50-year career, he focused in particular on paintings in the sword and sorcery and heroic fantasy subgenres. Biography Kelly was the nephew of Frank Frazetta's wife Eleanor "Ellie" Frazetta ( Kelly; 1935–2009). Early in his career he was able to study the paintings of Frank Frazetta in the latter's studio. In the early 1970s he did a couple of cover paintings for ''Castle of Frankenstein'' magazine. Throughout the 1970s he was one of the foremost cover artists on Warren Publishing's ''Creepy'' and ''Eerie'' magazines.
