Losser () is a municipality and a town in the eastern Netherlands. It is at the eastern end of the A1 motorway. Overdinkel
Overdinkel is a village in the Twente region of the eastern Netherlands, in the municipality of Losser. It is named for the nearby river Dinkel. Its population in 2012 was 4,255. The territories of the Netherlands and the German ''Länder'' of North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony meet at a point to the east of Overdinkel. History Overdinkel, previously a small farming community in a "solitary plain of heather and sand drifts", was developed in the early 20th century to house workers in the textile factories of Gronau. People from all over the Netherlands and from Germany came to live there. Since the Second World War the textile industry in the region has been in decline, and the village population is forecast also to decline, even though the hospitality industry has grown owing to the proximity of the German border. Beuningen, Overijssel
Beuningen () is a village in the eastern Netherlands. It is located in the municipality of Losser, Overijssel and situated along the river Dinkel, in a mainly rural area, approximately one kilometre south of Denekamp. History The village was first mentioned in the late-10th century as "in Baningi", and means "settlement of the people of Bono (person)". Beuningen started as a collection of farms south of Denekamp. It started to develop after World War II. The estate Borgbeuningen was built in 1709 on the former site of a medieval castle. The estate is surrounded by a large park whose lanes are aligned with the church towers of the region. In the centre of the forest, there is a rectangular and crucifix-shaped pond. Beuningen was home to 699 people in 1840. Kim Kötter
Kim Kötter (born 27 July 1982, Losser, Overijssel) is a Dutch director, model and beauty pageant titleholder. She was crowned Miss Universe Nederland 2002, and competed in the Miss Universe 2002 pageant where she placed 11th in the preliminaries, missing the top 10 by one spot. She also competed in the Miss Europe 2002 pageant where she placed 3rd runner up. Kötter currently runs her own modelling agency, and is the organizer of the Miss Overijssel, Miss Nederland and Miss Universe Germany beauty pageants. In 2011, Kötter competed on the Dutch version of the television show Fort Boyard. Overijssel
Overijssel (, ; nds, Oaveriessel ; german: Oberyssel) is a Provinces of the Netherlands, province of the Netherlands located in the eastern part of the country. The province's name translates to "across the IJssel", from the perspective of the Bishopric of Utrecht, Episcopal principality of Utrecht by which it was held until 1528. Dinkel
The Dinkel is a river in Germany and the Netherlands, left tributary of the Vecht. Its total length is , of which in Germany. The Dinkel originates in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, between Ahaus and Coesfeld. It flows north to Gronau, crosses the border with the Netherlands (Overijssel), flows through Losser, Denekamp, and recrosses the border to Germany (Lower Saxony). The Dinkel joins the Vechte in Neuenhaus. Jacob van Ruisdael depicted the landscape of the Dinkel and its watermills near Denekamp in his work Two Watermills and an Open Sluice near Singraven. These watermills still exist. In the Netherlands the river gave name to the village of Overdinkel and to the municipality of Dinkelland. The A1 is a motorway in the Netherlands. The road connects the capital city of Amsterdam, near the interchange of Watergraafsmeer, with the German border, near Oldenzaal and Bad Bentheim, and the German Autobahn BAB 30. Moniek Nijhuis
Moniek Nijhuis (born 20 March 1988) is a Dutch swimmer who specializes in breaststroke. After she had been a professional swimmer, under the guidance of Martin Truijens, for several years she took a break from professional swimming after she missed out on the Dutch team for the 2008 Summer Olympics. She wanted to concentrate more on her studies and train less. She still swims at De Dolfijn swimming club in Amsterdam.
