Dinkelland () is a Municipalities of the Netherlands, municipality in the eastern Netherlands. For a short time it was known as Denekamp (one of its component towns) until it was renamed in 2002. Ootmarsum
Ootmarsum is a city in the Dutch province of Overijssel. It is a part of the municipality of Dinkelland, and lies about 10 km north of Oldenzaal. In 2001, the city of Ootmarsum had 4227 inhabitants. Denekamp
Denekamp () is a town in the Dutch province of Overijssel. It is a part of the region of Twente and the municipality of Dinkelland, and lies about 9 km northeast of Oldenzaal. The town was first noted as early as the 10th century when it was referred to as Daginghem, and means "settlement of the people of Dago or Dano". The village started around the church which was built in 1275. It remained isolated and small until 1829 when the road from Deventer to Hamburg was built. The location became a municipality in 1818 incorporating the settlements of Noord Deurningen, Lattrop, Breklenkamp, Tilligte, Nutter and Agelo. The municipality merged with Ootmarsum and Weerselo in 2001; the new municipality was first called "Denekamp", but was renamed in 2002 to Dinkelland. Volthe is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Overijssel. It is a part of the municipality of Dinkelland, and lies about 6 km north of Oldenzaal. Volthe is not a statistical entity, and the postal authorities have placed it under Rossum. It was first mentioned in the late-10th century as Uuluht. The etymology is unclear. Deurningen is a village in the Dutch province of Overijssel. It is a part of the municipality of Dinkelland, and lies about 5 km northeast of Hengelo. Tilligte
Tilligte is a rural village in the Netherlands, Dutch province of Overijssel. It is a part of the municipality of Dinkelland and is situated about 10 km north of Oldenzaal. It was first mentioned in 1295 as Tilgede, and means "place where young oaks grow". In 1840, it was home to 463 people. The windmill in the village is called 'Westerveld Möl'. Saasveld is a village in the Dutch province of Overijssel. It is a part of the municipality of Dinkelland, and lies about 7 km north of Hengelo. Overview It was first mentioned in 1145 as Saterslo. The etymology is unclear. The castle Saterslo was first mentioned in 1361. It was surrounded by swaps and often raided the countryside. After the reformation, a clandestine church was constructed inside the castle. The castle was demolished in 1818, and a church was built in Saasveld. Rossum, Overijssel
Rossum is a village in the Dutch province of Overijssel. It is a part of the municipality of Dinkelland, and lies about 4 km north of Oldenzaal on the road to Ootmarsum. It was first mentioned in the late-10th century as Rohthem, and means "settlement near cleared forest". In 1840, it was home to 504 people. The Hunenborg is a circular rampart to the north of Rossum. In 1916, remnants of wooden buildings were discovered at the site. Later a wooden dam dating from the 1150s was uncovered, and may be the location of a 10th century fortress of the Prince-Bishop of Utrecht. In the rural environment some farms can be found in the traditional building style of the timber framed Low German house. Oud Ootmarsum is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Overijssel. It is a part of the municipality of Dinkelland, and lies about 12 km north of Oldenzaal and very close to Ootmarsum. Oud Ootmarsum is a statistical entity and has its own postal code, however it is considered a hamlet. The hamlet is the predecessor of the city of Ootmarsum, and was first mentioned in 1384 as Olde Oetmarsum. In 1840, it was home to 245 people.
