Lord Jim (1925 Film)
''Lord Jim'' is a 1925 American silent drama film starring Percy Marmont (in the title role), Noah Beery, and Duke Kahanamoku. The film was directed by Victor Fleming and based on the 1900 novel ''Lord Jim'' by Joseph Conrad. Plot As described in a review in a film magazine, Jim (Marmont) is a seaman who joins a cowardly captain and his stenchful crew in deserting a boatload of Muslim pilgrims on their way to Mecca. He is hypnotized into turning his back on his duty, but hypnotism is no alibi in an Admiralty Court and he loses his mate's certificate. The stigma follows him until an understanding merchant sends him to a remote Malay settlement, where he grows in power until he shares authority with the son of the Rajah. The captain and his crew, likewise blacklisted, have turned pirates and are led to the settlement by the former factor at the settlement, whom Jim has kept on through a fellow feeling of pity until he has become impossible. Victor Fleming
Victor Lonzo Fleming (February 23, 1889 – January 6, 1949) was an American film director, cinematographer, and producer. His most popular films were '' Gone with the Wind'', for which he won an Academy Award for Best Director, and '' The Wizard of Oz'' (both 1939). Fleming has those same two films listed in the top 10 of the American Film Institute's 2007 AFI's 100 Years...100 Movies list. Harry Tenbrook
Harry Tenbrook (born Henry Olaf Hansen, October 9, 1887 – September 4, 1960) was an American film actor. Henry Olaf Hansen was born in Christiania (now Oslo), Norway. His family migrated to the United States in 1892. Under the stage name, Harry Tenbrook, he appeared in more than 330 films between 1911 and 1960. A favorite of John Ford, Tenbrook was a prominent member of the John Ford Stock Company. Only four actors appeared in more Ford films than Tenbrook. Evelyn Selbie
Evelyn Selbie (July 6, 1871 – December 7, 1950) was an American stage actress and performer in both silent and sound films. Biography Born in Louisville, Kentucky, as a young woman Selbie was a sidesaddle rider. She had a career which lasted twenty-five years on the stage. She began in Proctor's stock companies in New York after leaving her home. She acted in plays like ''Human Hearts'' and '' The Cat and the Canary''. In the former production she starred for two seasons. Selbie also acted in the stock theater company that operated at the Grand Theater in Reno, Nevada. Then she ventured west where she tenured 18 months at the old Central Theatre in San Francisco, California. Ernie Adams (born Ernest Stephen Dumarais; June 18, 1885 – November 26, 1947) was an American vaudevillian performer, stage and screen actor and writer. Biography Born in San Francisco, California to Leon D. Adams and Laurence G. Girard, he was also billed as Ernest S. Adams and Ernie S. Adams. He appeared in vaudeville, theater, and film. He started his career in musical comedy on Broadway. Along with his wife Berdonna Gilbert, he formed the vaudeville team "Gilbert and Adams".
