Loona was first featured on numerous singles by DJ Sammy under the artist name Carisma. The first release as Loona was the debut studio album Lunita in 1999, preceded by the massive chart hits " Bailando", a Paradisio cover version, and the Mecano classic " Hijo de la Luna", both released in 1998. This success was followed with the sophomore release ''Entre dos aguas'' in 2000, preceded by the controversial single release "Mamboleo", a cover version of Herbert Grönemeyer's song "Mambo", which has been removed on later pressings. Loona (born Marie-José van der Kolk, on September 16, 1974 in IJmuiden, Netherlands), is a Dutch pop singer and dancer. Life and career 1994–1998: Beginnings and ''Life Is Just a Game'' Van der Kolk was born on 16 September 1974 in IJmuiden. In 1991, she met DJ and producer DJ Sammy at Zorba's Club in El Arenal Mallorca. In 1992, DJ Sammy became resident DJ at the Joy Palace Club in El Arenal, while Van der Kolk was a resident dancer there, for whom she started to be a background singer for live performances. She soon adopted the stage name "Carisma" and performed as a featured artist on DJ Sammy's music. In 1996, they released their first singles "Life is Just a Game" and "You Are My Angel", which was their first hit. The Bundesverband Musikindustrie (English: Federal Music Industry Association), or simply BVMI, represents the music industry in Germany. The association represents the interests of nearly 280 labels and music industry related enterprises, which comprise 90% of the music industry.
