London Buses Route 183
London Buses route 183 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Pinner and Golders Green station, it is operated by London Sovereign. History Route 183 commenced operating on 3 October 1934, running from Northwood Garage to Golders Green station via Pinner, North Harrow, Kenton, Kingsbury and Hendon, operating from Hendon garage, using Leyland Titan STDs which were in turn replaced in 1953 by the AEC Regent III RTs. This route was still much the same in 1952. LT-type buses allocated to Harrow Weald garage were used on route 183 between Golders Green and Pinner. In April 1937, STD-type buses first went into service on route 183. Upon being re-tendered, the route passed to London Sovereign with a new contract commencing in September 1999, with single deck Plaxton Pointer bodied Dennis Dart SLFs. London Sovereign
London Sovereign is a bus company in North London. It is a subsidiary of RATP Dev Transit London and operates buses under contract to Transport for London. Company history London Sovereign can trace its roots back to independent Borehamwood Travel Services which ran a fleet that included ex- Kelvin Central MCW Metrobuses and Northern Counties Palatines bodied Leyland Olympians and a collection of other vehicles. In 1993 it won its biggest London Buses contract, to operate route 13 with leased AEC Routemasters in its orange livery. In August 1994, Borehamwood Travel Services was sold to the Blazefield Group's Sovereign subsidiary, with the two operations merged as Sovereign London. The Dennis Dart is a Rear-engine design, rear-engined single-decker bus, single-decker midibus chassis that was introduced by Dennis Specialist Vehicles of Guildford, England in 1989, replacing the Dennis Domino. Initially built as a high-floor design, In 1996 the Low-floor bus, low-floor second generation Dennis Dart SLF was launched. In 2001, production of the Dart SLF passed to TransBus International, during which time it was sold as the TransBus Dart SLF; Alexander Dennis took over production in 2004, renaming the product as the Alexander Dennis Dart SLF. More than 11,000 Darts were produced in total during a 19-year production run. Most were purchased by United Kingdom operators, although examples were sold in North America, Australia, Hong Kong and Singapore. The Volvo B7TL is a Low-floor bus, low-floor double-decker bus chassis which was launched in 1999 and replaced the 2-axle version of the Volvo Olympian (its 3-axle version was replaced by the Volvo Super Olympian). It was built as the United Kingdom, British bus operators seemed hesitant to purchase the Volvo B7L, B7L double decker with a long rear Overhang (vehicles), overhang (although some have since entered service in Glasgow, Scotland as 12 m long double deckers). Plaxton President
The Plaxton President was a low floor double-decker bus body built at Northern Counties plant in Wigan, England and branded as a Plaxton product for its main production run. It was first unveiled in 1997 on the longitudinal Volvo B7L chassis and later built between 1998 and 2005 following a body redesign. When it became part of TransBus International, the body was sold under the TransBus name. The President was built on the Dennis/TransBus Trident, the DAF DB250 and the Volvo B7TL chassis. Features The body was designed to compete with the Alexander ALX400 body, and had rectangular front headlights below a large front windscreen.
