London Boy Singers
The London Boy Singers was an English boys' choir which formed in 1961. It initially drew its members from the Finchley Children's Music Group. The choir was started at the suggestion of Benjamin Britten, who was its first president. In the beginning the choir was run by a group of three adults: John Andrewes, who also led the Finchley Children's Music GroupRosamund Strode a musician, singer and later assistant to Britten, and Jonathan Steele, deputy to George Malcolm at Westminster Cathedral. Jonathan Steele soon became the conductor and leader of the London Boy Singers. The choir sang at the Aldeburgh Festival on a number of occasions. It sang in Westminster Abbey in the first London performance of Britten's ''War Requiem'' in 1962. The group performed at the Royal Albert Hall in 1964 and 1974. ''Barbapapa'' is a 1970 children's picture book by the French-American couple Annette Tison and Talus Taylor, who lived in Paris, France. Barbapapa is both the title character and the name of his "species". The book was the first of a series of children's books originally written in French and later translated into over 30 languages. ''Barbe à papa'' – literally "Daddy's beard" – is French for cotton candy or candy floss. Background The inspiration for Barbapapa came by chance in the Luxembourg Garden in Paris one day in May 1970. Green Grow the Rushes, O (alternatively "Ho" or "Oh") (also known as "The Twelve Prophets", "The Carol of the Twelve Numbers", "The Teaching Song", "The Dilly Song", or "The Ten Commandments"), is an English folk song (Roud #133). It is sometimes sung as a Christmas carol. It often takes the form of antiphon, where one voice calls and is answered by a chorus. The song is not to be confused with Robert Burns's similarly titled "Green Grow the Rashes" nor with the Irish folk band Altan's song of the same name. It is cumulative in structure, with each verse built up from the previous one by appending a new stanza. Robin Sylvester
Robin Sylvester (1950 – 29 October 2022) was an English musician who was best known as a member of the American band RatDog. Although primarily a bass player, he played several instruments, including the guitar and keyboards, and did extensive arranging. Sylvester began his professional music career with the ''a cappella'' London Boy Singers chorus in the 1960s, and as a sound engineer in 1969. Working as an assistant at Abbey Road Studios when The Beatles recorded their eponymous album, he was inspired by Paul McCartney to take up the bass guitar. He also used early synthesisers while playing with and producing Byzantium in 1971. While touring with Dana Gillespie, he moved to the United States in 1974. Darien Robert Kabir Angadi (19 March 1949 – 5 December 1981) was an English singer and actor. Biography Darien Angadi was the son of painter and novelist Patricia Angadi (née Patricia Clare Fell-Clarke), (who introduced George Harrison of the Beatles to Ravi Shankar) and Ayana Deva Angadi, an impecunious Indian writer, intellectual and Trotskyist.
