Loli Sánchez
María Dolores Sánchez Gil (born 1 July 1964), known as Loli Sánchez, is a former Spanish professional basketball player representing Spain. She won the 1985-86 Copa Federación with Avón Alcalá, and also played for CEPSA Tenerife and BEX Banco Exterior. In 1988 she joined the BEX project, a pre-olympic team which played together for several seasons in order to compete in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, but she stopped playing in the summer of 1990. She made her debut with Spain women's national basketball team at the age of 19. She played with the senior team for 7 years, from 1983 to 1990, with a total of 128 caps and 4.4 PPG. The Liga Femenina de Baloncesto, also known as Liga Femenina Endesa for sponsorship reasons, is the highest level of sports league, league competition for women's basketball in Spain. It is the women's equivalent of the men's Liga ACB and is run by the Spanish Basketball Federation. The league was founded in 1964 and is played under FIBA rules. CB Islas Canarias
Club de Baloncesto Islas Canarias, better known for sponsorship reasons as SPAR Gran Canaria, is a Spanish women's basketball team from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Founded in 1980, it has played in the Spanish Women's League since 1983. 1998-99 was Islas Canarias' most successful season to date with the club winning the Ronchetti Cup, the national Cup and being the national championship's runner-up. The following year the team won its second cup and again reached the Ronchetti Cup's final, and in 2003 it played its third European final, in the new EuroCup. BEX Banco Exterior or Toledo'92 was a Spanish women's basketball team from Toledo, Spain, Toledo and Madrid. It competed 4 seasons in the Liga Femenina de Baloncesto, Spanish top-tier league from 1988 to 1992. In October 1986 Barcelona was selected to host the 1992 Summer Olympics, meaning the automatic qualification of the Spain women's national basketball team. The team had never qualified for the Basketball at the Summer Olympics, Olympic tournament or the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup, Women's World Cup and had only played seven EuroBasket Women, EuroBasket final tournaments, with a record of 17 wins and 32 losses (34.6% winning ratio). Basketball at the 1992 Summer Olympics was the thirteenth appearance of the sport of basketball as an official Olympic medal event. It included the sport of basketball's men's and women's competitions of the 1992 Summer Olympics. The games were played at the Pavelló Olímpic de Badalona. 12 men's teams and 8 women's teams participated in the tournament.
