Llanerch-y-medd Football Club ( cy, Clwb Pêl Droed Llannerch-y-medd) is a Welsh football team based in Llannerch-y-medd, Anglesey, Wales. The team currently play in the North Wales Coast West Football League Premier Division, which is at the fourth tier of the Welsh football league system. History The club played in the Gwynedd League before joining the Welsh Alliance League for the 2014–15 season. The club remained in that league until the end of the 2018–19 season when they resigned from the league and demoted themselves to the Gwynedd League after many of their playing squad left for other clubs. The 2019–20 season in the Gwynedd League saw the club finish bottom of the table, having amassed zero points from 19 games in a season curtailed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Llannerch-y-medd
Llannerch-y-medd, is a small village, community and post town on the Isle of Anglesey in Wales. The Royal Mail postcode is LL71, and it has a population of 1,360, of whom more than 70% is Welsh speaking. The village is situated near the centre of Anglesey close to the large water supply reservoir, Llyn Alaw, and is believed to have an ancient foundation. ''Llannerch'' means "a woodland clearing". The word ''medd'' in the name is Welsh for mead, which is made from honey, and the name may be related to the production of honey for mead. The disused Anglesey Central Railway runs through the village. Its station, opened in 1866, was closed in 1964 as part of the Beeching Axe, and its goods yard is now a car park. The North Wales Coast West Football League is a football league in Wales, at tiers 4 and 5 of the Welsh football league system in North Wales, founded in 2020. The league is under the control of the North Wales Coast Football Association. The league replaced the former Gwynedd League and Anglesey Leagues, and covers the North West of Wales. The Welsh football league system (or pyramid) is a series of football leagues with regular promotion and relegation between them. While most Welsh clubs play in the Welsh pyramid and most clubs in that pyramid are Welsh, five Welsh clubs play in England, and four English clubs play in Wales. The Anglesey Football League was a football league in Anglesey, Wales, and was equivalent to the sixth level of the Welsh football league system in North Wales. The champions were promoted to the Gwynedd League.
