Llangyfelach is an electoral ward in the county of Swansea, Wales, UK. It covers the communities of Llangyfelach and part of Mawr. The electoral ward consists of some or all of the following settlements: Llangyfelach, Pantlasau, Treboeth and Felindre, in the parliamentary constituency of Gower. The ward is bounded by the ward of Clydach to the east; Morriston, Mynydd-Bach and Penderry to the south east; Pontarddulais to te west; Pontlliw and Tircoed and Penllergaer to the south west. 2022 ward boundary changes Following a local government boundary review the Llangyfelach ward significantly increased in size. 2022 City And County Of Swansea Council Election
An election to City and County of Swansea Council took place on 5 May 2022 as part of the 2022 Welsh local elections. Seventy five seats were up for election across 32 electoral ward, wards. The previous full election took place 2017 City and County of Swansea Council election, in 2017. Background Ward changes As the result of a ward boundary review, the number of wards were reduced from 36 to 32, but with the number of councillors increasing from 72 to 75, effective from the 2022 election. The changes were designed to make the ratio between councillors and voters more equal. Fifteen ward boundaries would be unaffected though a significant number of wards were merged or amended. The Mawr ward ceased to exist, it's communities divied amongst neighbouring wards and a new ward of Pontlliw and Tircoed created. Tircoed Forest Village
Tircoed forest village is a suburb between the villages of Penllergaer and Pontlliw, Swansea, Wales. It is part of the Pontlliw and Tircoed community. Built from the late 1980s onwards, Tircoed currently consists of 470 houses clustered around a village hall, pond and green, accessible from the A48 via a road. Pontlliw (Welsh spelling: ''Pont-lliw'') is a village in the community of Pontlliw and Tircoed, part of the City and County of Swansea in Wales. The village is located near Pontarddulais, off Junction 47 of the M4 motorway. The name of the village comes from the Welsh word for bridge (''pont'') and the name of the River Lliw which runs through the village. The Pontlliw and Tircoed community has an elected community council and has a population of 2,075. The village itself had a population of around 1,645 in 2011. Penderry ( cy, Penderi) is the name of an electoral ward and a community in the City and County of Swansea, Wales, UK. Penderry does not have a community council. Penderry is bordered by the wards of Mynydd-Bach to the east; Cockett and Cwmbwrla to the south; and Kingsbridge, Penllergaer and Llangyfelach to the north.
