Ljubljana Silverhawks
The Ljubljana Silverhawks are an American football team based in Ljubljana, Slovenia, founded in 2002 by a group of football fans from the Slovenian capital. It is the first team to have brought the sport in Slovenia. The team has achieved the first place in six editions of the Slovenian Football League (2009–10, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2016, and 2017). The team has also won a title in the Central European Football League in 2012. Before the 2019 season, Ljubljana Silverhawks merged with Domžale Tigers. History The Ljubljana Silverhawks were established in April 2002, becoming the first American football team based in Slovenia. The Silverhawks were not affiliated in any American Football leagues. The Graz Giants are an American football team in Graz, Austria founded in 1981. The Giants play in the Austrian Football League at ASKÖ Stadium in the Eggenberg district of Graz. History Inspired by a March 1981 broadcast of the first Austrian football team, the Vienna Ramblocks, Stefan Herdey decided to found an American football team. After an advertisement was placed in a local newspaper, a dozen potential players attended the first meeting and founded the Graz Football Team. That team would be renamed the Graz Giants. The Raiders Tirol (for the AFL-Teams SWARCO Raiders Tirol, formerly Papa Joe’s Tyrolean Raiders) are an American football team based in Innsbruck, Austria. Mödling () is the capital of the Austrian district of the same name located approximately 14 km south of Vienna. Mödling lies in Lower Austria's industrial zone (Industrieviertel). Ljubljana (also known by other historical names) is the capital and largest city of Slovenia. It is the country's cultural, educational, economic, political and administrative center. The Maribor Generals were an American football team from Maribor, Slovenia. History The Maribor Generals were founded on 21 May 2008. In October 2009, the Generals, along with the Ljubljana Silverhawks, Alp Devils and Gold Diggers, organized the first Slovenian Football League. The Generals played their first official match of the Slovenian Championship against the Alp Devils, defeating them 25–13 and scoring the first touchdown of the championship with a kickoff return.
