Little Red (band)
Little Red were an Australian pop and rock band formed in 2005 by Adrian Beltrame on guitar, keyboard and vocals, Dominic Byrne on guitar and vocals, Quang Dinh on bass guitar and vocals, Tom Hartney on harmonica, keyboard and vocals, and Taka Honda on drums. They issued two albums, '' Listen to Little Red'' (28 June 2008) and '' Midnight Remember'' (September 2010). The second album peaked at No. 5 on the ARIA Albums Chart. It provided their highest-charting single, " Rock It" (June 2010), which reached the top 20 on the ARIA Singles Chart. At the EG Awards of 2010, they won Best New Talent. The group disbanded in August 2012. Big Day Out
The Big Day Out (BDO) was an annual music festival that was held in five Australian cities: Sydney, Melbourne, Gold Coast, Adelaide, and Perth, as well as Auckland, New Zealand. The festival was held during summer, typically in January of each year but was sometimes held as late as early February in some cities including Perth. The event was conceptualised after the Violent Femmes announced a tour of Australia. Promoters Ken West and Vivian Lees sought another act as middle-level support for the band's tour. They succeeded in securing Nirvana to play the Sydney leg at the Hordern Pavilion. The Big Day Out debuted on the 1992 Australia Day public holiday in Sydney and eventually expanded to Melbourne, Adelaide, and Perth the following year. Ian McFarlane (born 1959) is an Australian music journalist, music historian and author, whose best known publication is the '' Encyclopedia of Australian Rock and Pop'' (1999), which was updated for a second edition in 2017. As a journalist he started in 1984 with '' Juke'', a rock music newspaper. During the early 1990s he worked for Roadrunner Records while he published a music guide, ''The Australian New Music Record Guide Volume 1: 1976–1980'' (1992). The 2008 Triple J Hottest 100 was announced on Australia Day, 26 January 2009. It was the sixteenth countdown of the most popular songs of the year, as chosen by the listeners of Australian radio station, Triple J. 2008 was also the first year of the countdown where Triple J made public the full list of songs that did not make the list proper. Coined as the "Hottest 200", the list was released online shortly after the main countdown. Voting commenced on Boxing Day, 26 December 2008, and closed on 18 January 2009.
