Little Bear (Native American Leader)
Little Bear (born âyimisîs, ᐋᔨᒥᓰᐢ or Macquettoquet - Little Big Bear) was a Cree leader who lived in the District of Alberta, Idaho Territory, Montana Territory, and District of Saskatchewan regions of Canada and the United States, in the 19th and early 20th centuries. He is known for his participation in the 1885 North-West Rebellion, which was fought in Alberta and Saskatchewan. Early life Son of tribal leader Big Bear, his exact date of birth is unknown, but some have assumed it to be in the mid-1800s. He is sometimes confused with another Little Bear who was a Chief of the Chippewa tribe in the late 18th century and lived into the first half of the 19th Century, fighting with the British in 1813 against the Americans. One account has him being 43 years old in 1897, while another said Little Bear was already in his 70s in 1915. He may have been born in the early or mid-1840s. The Little Bear Movie
''The Little Bear Movie'' is a 2001 animated adventure film based on the television series '' Little Bear'', which in turn is based on the book series of the same name which was written by Else Holmelund Minarik and illustrated by Maurice Sendak. The Little Bear Fire wildfire in New Mexico on June 4, 2012 burned 44,330 acres and 254 buildings, making it the most destructive of human structures wildfire in the state's history. Little Bear (train)
The ''Polar Bear Express'' is a Canadian passenger train operated by the Ontario Northland Railway in Northern Ontario. Service was introduced in 1964. While designated as a passenger train, the Polar Bear Express also carries freight and is equipped with specialized equipment including boxcars for canoes, snowmobiles and all terrain vehicles, chaincars (flat cars with tie downs) for carrying cars and light trucks (there are no roads to Moosonee so vehicles come in and out by train) and baggage and express cars. In the past a special car for canoes was included but these are now carried in boxcars. It operates five days per week year-round and connects Cochrane with Moosonee. Barbara Firth (1928-2013) was a British illustrator of children's books, best known for her work on Martin Waddell's ''Little Bear'' books. She won the 1988 Kate Greenaway Medal. Martin Waddell (born 10 April 1941) is a writer of children's books from Belfast, Northern Ireland. He may be known best for his picture book texts featuring anthropomorphic animals, especially the ''Little Bear'' series illustrated by Barbara Firth (not to be confused with Minarik & Sendak's ''Little Bear'' series). He also writes under the pen name Catherine Sefton for older children, primarily ghost stories and mystery fiction.
