Tourism in China is a growing industry that is becoming a significant part of the Chinese economy. The rate of tourism has expanded over the last few decades since the beginning of reform and opening-up. The emergence of a newly rich middle class and an easing of restrictions on movement by the Chinese authorities are both fueling this travel boom. Tourism Education Press (TEP) is a university press affiliated to Beijing International Studies University (BISU) of China. It was founded in November 1987 as part of the national initiative to promote the domestic tourism industry and tourism education. History The history of the press dates back to the 1980s, during which the strong links of the university to the Chinese tourism ministry CNTA significantly contributed to the establishment of TEP. In 1978, the Chinese government introduced the economic reform and put great emphasis on the integration into the global market. China National Tourism Administration
The China National Tourism Administration (CNTA; ) was a Chinese government authority responsible for the development of tourism in the country. The CNTA was subordinate to the State Council. Its headquarters are in Beijing, with regional branches in various provinces. The predecessor was the China Travel and Tourism Administration (later renamed the China Travel and Tourism Administration) established in 1964. It was once an agency directly under the State Council in charge of tourism. CNTA does not have the authority of a full department within the Chinese government to enforce regulations, but in other respects it acts as a ministry.
