Uganda Broadcasting Corporation
Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC) is the public broadcaster network of Uganda. It was founded as a result of the "Uganda Broadcasting Corporation Act, 2004", which merged the operations of Uganda Television (UTV) and Radio Uganda. It started broadcasting on November 16, 2005. The Uganda Broadcasting Corporation Act stated that the UBC should be funded by the levying of a television licence fee. Collection of a licence fee set at USh  (around €8.40 or US$10.80) started in 2005. However, collection was subsequently halted by President Yoweri Museveni. There has since been pressure to reinstate the licence fee to maintain UBC's independence. UBC operates the UBC TV channel and five radio stations. NBS Television is a Ugandan television network owned by Next Media Services. It is headquartered at Next Media Park, Plot 13, Summit View Road, Naguru, Kampala District. Background The story of Next Media Services started with the founding of NBS Television with broadcasts commencing on June 16, 2008, when it was registered and got its license, owning just one transmitter and headquartered at Media Plaza in Kamwokya, a Kampala Suburb. The founding of the television heralded the launch of sister companies that include Sanyuka TV, Salaam TV (with broadcasting based on the Islamic faith), Nile post (an online newspaper), Next Radio, and Next Conference Centre ( an events center), Next Productions and Next Communications. NTV Uganda is a Ugandan television station under the Nation Media Group, NMG, operating in East Africa. It has been on air since 2006. It is one of the companies owned by Aga Khan IV. During the Arua elections, NTV Uganda reporter Herbert Zziwa and cameraman Ronald Muwanga were arrested for allegedly inciting violence. It was also banned from covering aerial footage of National Resistance Movement rallies in the 2016 general elections. In 2020 the media house reached one million followers on Twitter. Baba TV
'Baba TV'' (short for Basoga Baino Television) is a television channel in Uganda with viewership primarily concentrated in the country's eastern and central regions. It maintains studios in Jinja City and Kampala. It airs programming in Lusoga, Luganda, and English.
