Quarantine Power Station
Quarantine Power Station is a gas-powered electricity generation facility near the northern end of Torrens Island in the northwestern suburbs of Adelaide, South Australia. It is at the opposite end of Torrens Island from AGL Energy's Torrens Island and Barker Inlet power stations. It gets its name from the Torrens Island Quarantine Station which was nearby. The power station is owned by Origin Energy and is configured as a peaking power plant. It has a capacity of 224MW produced by open cycle gas turbines. The Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) is an independent agency of the Australian federal government, established in 2012 to manage Australia's renewable energy programs, with the objective of increasing supply and competitiveness of Australian renewable energy sources. Lincoln Gap is a locality in the northeastern corner of Eyre Peninsula, South Australia. It is named after a gap between steep-sided hills. Kidston Gold Mine is a former open cut gold mine in northern Queensland, Australia. Gold was first discovered around 1907 at what was initially known as ''Oak's Rush'' and renamed to Kidston a few months later as a gold rush started. The gold was initially alluvial gold found in gullies leading to the Copperfield River. The township was established soon after. As the easily-won alluvial gold began to run out, miners started to pursue gold in the quartz reefs. The first stamper battery commenced operation in May 1909 and a second commenced in April 1910.
