Dundalk
Dundalk ( ; ga, Dún Dealgan ), meaning "the fort of Dealgan", is the county town (the administrative centre) of County Louth, Ireland. The town is on the Castletown River, which flows into Dundalk Bay on the east coast of Ireland. It is halfway between Dublin and Belfast, close to the border with Northern Ireland. It is the eighth largest urban area in Ireland, with a population of 39,004 as of the 2016 census. Having been inhabited since the Neolithic period, Dundalk was established as a Norman stronghold in the 12th century following the Norman invasion of Ireland, and became the northernmost outpost of The Pale in the Late Middle Ages. The town came to be nicknamed the "Gap of the North" where the northernmost point of the province of Leinster meets the province of Ulster. Jinx Lennon
David "Jinx" Lennon (born 20 August 1964 in Dundalk, County Louth, Ireland) is an Irish punk and urban poet. As of Sep 2022, he has released 12 albums with songs on a broad range of themes. He uses a rap-like vocal style, in a heavy Dundalk accent. In October 2016, he released two new albums: ''Magic Bullets of Madness to Uplift the Grief Magnets'' and ''Past Pupil Stay Sane''. Lennon says he found himself in a "bind" because he hated the characters he wrote about on a previous album, ''Trauma Themes, Idiot Times'', and that it was too pessimistic. Music Lennon's work has been compared to Mark E. Smith and John Cooper Clarke for the "off-beat genius of his lyrics". Dónal O'Connor
Dónal O'Connor is an Irish multi-instrumentalist, producer and television presenter from Ravensdale, County Louth, Ireland. He is a member of Belfast-based Irish traditional groups Ulaid & At First Light. Early life O'Connor was born into an Irish-speaking household. His father is fiddler Gerry O'Connor and his mother was singer and flute player Eithne Ní Uallacháin (d. 1999). His maternal grandparents were Pádraig Ó hUallacháin, a teacher, writer and song collector, and Eithne bean Uí Uallacháin. His paternal grandmother was fiddler and fiddle teacher Rose O'Connor. O'Connor is also the nephew of singers Pádraigín Ní Uallacháin and Len Graham. Just Mustard
Just Mustard are an Irish rock band. They formed in Dundalk in County Louth in 2016. Career Their debut album, ''Wednesday'', was released in 2018 through Pizza Pizza Records. Self-produced and recorded by the band in their home studio in Dundalk and in Start Together Studios, Belfast, with recording engineer Chris Ryan, ''Wednesday'' was nominated for the Choice Music Prize in 2018. In 2020, the band signed to Brooklyn-based label Partisan Records, which released their sophomore album, ''Heart Under'', in May 2022. John Moore (director)
John Moore (born 1970) is an Irish film director and producer whose credits include the action war film '' Behind Enemy Lines'' and ''A Good Day to Die Hard''. Early life and education Moore was born in Dundalk, Ireland, and attended Dublin Institute of Technology, where he attained a degree in Media Arts. Upon completing his course, Moore genuinely believed that he wouldn't go on to work within the medium of film, but after a few years, that promptly changed. Career After graduating, he wrote and directed a series of short films in Ireland. Several of these shorts have featured on Irish TV networks over the years, and along the way Moore founded an Irish-based production company called Clingfilms. ''Naked Camera'' is a hidden camera comedy television show which began airing on RTÉ Two in 2005. Dawn Martin
Dawn Martin (born 1976 in Dundalk) is an Irish people, Irish singer who represented Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest, Ireland in the 1998 Eurovision Song Contest. Career and Eurovision Dawn Martin left school at the age of 14 and began working as a hairdresser. Being the eldest of eight children, she helped her parents to raise the family. In 1996 Martin had been asked to sing at a friend's wedding and was persuaded by the band to enter a local talent contest. Although working full-time as a hairdresser, Martin continued singing and became a member of a local cabaret band called Us, who performed at weddings and local pubs. Cathy Maguire
Cathy Maguire is an accomplished singer, songwriter, model and TV presenter who was born in Dundalk, County Louth, Republic of Ireland, on 11 October 1981. At a young age Maguire became a child star, recording her first album at age twelve. At the request of several listeners, she was invited by Gerry Ryan to perform a live set on his radio program, an opportunity that sparked a career that included numerous TV appearances and production of three albums by the time she was 17. Education Maguire attended Redeemer Girls Primary School in Dundalk, County Louth, the school which the three sisters of the internationally renowned band The Corrs attended.
