Naked Camera
''Naked Camera'' is a hidden camera comedy television show which began airing on RTÉ Two in 2005. Set and filmed in the Republic of Ireland (mostly in Dublin), its concept is similar to that of the UK show ''Trigger Happy TV'' or the ascendant candid camera elements of ''The Live Mike''. Comedians PJ Gallagher, Patrick McDonnell, and Maeve Higgins wrote the scripts and portrayed the sketch characters. Produced by Scratch Productions for RTÉ, the third and concluding series aired in February 2007. PJ Gallagher (comedian)
P. J. Gallagher (born 18 April 1975) is an Irish stand-up comedian and actor, perhaps better known from his television show ''Naked Camera''. His various characters in the programme include a mentally unstable taxi driver, ladies' man Jake Stevens and a "Dirty Auld One", an old woman who makes sexual comments. Early life and career Gallagher was born on in Cork, Ireland. He is an alumnus of St Paul's College, Raheny. In , Gallagher married Elaine Stewart who was his long-term girlfriend, they are believed to have separated in 2016. He is also friends with fellow comedian Jason Byrne, and he has worked on BBC's ''The I Hate Show''. Gallagher is also a motorbike racer. He has revealed he has reactive arthritis. Tubridy Tonight
''Tubridy Tonight'' is a talk show hosted by Ryan Tubridy that aired on RTÉ One for five seasons between 2004 and 2009. The programme featured guest interviews (usually three per show), audience participation and live music from both a guest music group and the house band. ''Tubridy Tonight'' aired every Saturday night, except during the summer months, directly after the main evening news. The show's house musical act was Clint Velour and the Camembert Quartet. ''Tubridy Tonight'' was the first successful Saturday night chat show to be broadcast by RTÉ since the ending of ''Kenny Live'' in 1999. ''The Cafe'' is a talk show aimed at young people in Ireland. The show debuted in 2004. It was broadcast on RTÉ Two each Friday evening at 19:00, having switched from its previous location in the Thursday scheduling from 7 November 2008. "Merry Christmas Jakey Boy" is a single released exclusively for the Irish market in December 2006 by Jake Stevens. Stevens is an alter ego of the comedian PJ Gallagher who features in the popular RTÉ Two hidden camera/comedy style television series, ''Naked Camera''. The Jakey Boy in the song's title refers obviously to Stevens himself. Richie Kavanagh
Richard Kavanagh (born 19 March 1949) is an Irish singer-songwriter. Despite psoriasis crippling his hands, at the age of 44 he went on to become a singer-songwriter who wrote the song "Aon Focal Eile" which gained national attention in 1996. Tony Keogh in South East Radio was the first person to play the song and, after Gerry Ryan began playing it on his RTÉ 2fm national morning show, Kavanagh had a top-ten hit. Early years Richie Kavanagh was born and raised in the Raheenwood area of Fenagh, Carlow in Ireland where he still resides. He was encouraged to write songs and sketches by one of his primary school teachers. His other major influence was the travelling road show which would visit his locality when he was a child. Richie loved the performances on the stage and used to go home and stand on the kitchen table and re-enact what he had seen. Patrick Shortt (born 12 December 1967) is an Irish actor, comedian, writer and entertainer. His role in the 2007 film ''Garage'' led to him receiving the IFTA for Best Actor. Career Shortt toured alongside Jon Kenny as comedy duo D'Unbelievables. They released "One Hell of a Video", "D'Unbelievables", "D'Video" (a live random sketch show), "D'Telly" (featuring Shortt and Kenny playing various characters – primarily two brothers who run a shop together), "D'Mother" (in which Kenny's character oversaw the running of a public house alongside his "mother" – who was later revealed to be his father, in a role played by Shortt) and "D'collection". Dustin The Turkey
Dustin the Turkey, a character performed by John Morrison is a former star of RTÉ television's ''The Den'' between 1989 and 2010 and from 2020. He has been described as "the most subversive comedy force on Irish television". A turkey-vulture with a strong Dublin accent hailing from Sallynoggin, Dustin first appeared on ''The Den'' with Zig and Zag in December 1989, but remained there after their 1993 departure to Channel 4. Bill O'Herlihy (26 September 1938 – 25 May 2015) was an Irish television broadcaster and public relations executive. He was best known for his broadcasts for Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ), primarily in the sporting arena.
