Valley Forge Casino Resort
Valley Forge Casino Resort is a casino in Upper Merion Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, just outside of Philadelphia. Located in the King of Prussia census-designated place (CDP), it was constructed on the existing site of the Valley Forge Convention Center and opened on March 31, 2012. It is owned and operated by Boyd Gaming. History Valley Forge Plaza The casino complex originated as a mixed-use development called Valley Forge Plaza, constructed by developer J. Leon Altemose. The construction was highly controversial, because Altemose chose to use non-union workers. This led to protests by local union members, during one of which, on June 5, 1972, the construction site was firebombed. Hollywood Casino York
York Galleria is an enclosed, indoor shopping mall located just northeast of York, Pennsylvania at the intersection of U.S. Route 30 and Pennsylvania Route 24. The anchor stores are Boscov's, Gold's Gym, H&M, Marshalls, and Hollywood Casino York. There is one vacant anchor store that was once The Bon-Ton, and the upper level of a former Sears store remains vacant. Restaurants The food court on the upper level contains counter service restaurants. The mall's only sit-down restaurant, Ruby Tuesday, closed in 2008. A Red Robin restaurant opened in the fall of 2014 in the mall's east-side parking lot and a Texas Roadhouse restaurant is also located near the east side of the mall. Philadelphia nearby. History The casino was planned to incorporate an existing Holiday Inn hotel in the city's stadium district. The hotel was built by a group led by Bankers Securities Corp. at a cost of $7 million, and opened in 1974 as the Philadelphia Hilton Inn. In 1976, local wine distributor Armand Ceritano acquired a controlling stake in the hotel, which had operated at a steep loss and was facing foreclosure. Nemacolin Woodlands Resort
Nemacolin (formerly known as Nemacolin Woodlands Resort) is a four seasons resort in Farmington, Fayette County, Pennsylvania. The resort is owned by Maggie Hardy Knox, president of the 84 Lumber Company, and was founded by her father, Joseph Hardy. It includes The Lodge at Nemacolin, a Tudor Revival-style hotel which is a member of the Historic Hotels of America.
