List Of Administrative Divisions Of Chongqing
Chongqing is the largest of the four direct-controlled municipalities of the People's Republic of China and is further divided into 26 districts, 8 counties, and 4 autonomous counties. It had 17 counties until October 2011, when Qijiang County and Wansheng District were merged to form the new Qijiang District, and Dazu County and Shuangqiao District were merged to form the new Dazu District. From October 2011 to June 2014, Chongqing had 15 counties until Bishan and Tongliang Counties were upgraded into district status. Two further counties were upgraded into district Tongnan and Rongchang Counties were upgraded into districts. In 2016 there additional counties were upgraded into district Kaizhou, Wulong and Liangping. Chongqing ( or ; ; Sichuanese dialects, Sichuanese pronunciation: , Standard Mandarin pronunciation: ), Postal Romanization, alternately romanized as Chungking (), is a Direct-administered municipalities of China, municipality in Southwest China. The official abbreviation of the city, "" (), was approved by the State Council of the People's Republic of China, State Council on 18 April 1997. This abbreviation is derived from the old name of a part of the Jialing River that runs through Chongqing and feeds into the Yangtze River. Beibei District () is a district in the Chongqing municipality, People's Republic of China. A satellite town in the north of central Chongqing, Beibei got its name because of the huge rock that extends to the middle of Jialing River, and is known for its historical culture in the period of the Republic of China. Liangping District (), formerly Liangping County () and Liangshan County (), is a district in the north of Chongqing Municipality, People's Republic of China. Sports The Liangping District National Fitness Centre Stadium, which has a capacity of 20,937, is the largest venue by capacity in Liangping. It opened in 2017. Kaizhou District
Kaizhou District (), formerly known as Kai County, Kaixian or Kaihsien () is a district under the jurisdiction of Chongqing Municipality, in southwestern China, bordering Sichuan province to the west. It has an area of 3,959 square km. As of the end of 2009, it had a population of 1.62 million. It is located 330 kilometers from the urban centre of Chongqing proper. History The county has a history dating back some 1800 years. In 1373, during the Ming Dynasty, it adopted the name Kaizhou. In the summer of 1907, there were disturbances in Kai County.
