Below is a list of role-playing game supplements based on properties of Marvel Comics. History The original ''Marvel Super Heroes'' game was published by TSR. It received extensive support from TSR, covering a wide variety of Marvel Comics characters and settings, including a '' Gamer's Handbook of the Marvel Universe'' patterned after Marvel's ''Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe''. ''MSH'' even received its own column in the (at the time) TSR-published gaming magazine, ''Dragon'', called "The Marvel-phile", which usually spotlighted a character or group of characters that had not yet appeared in a published game product. Before losing the Marvel license, TSR published a different game using their SAGA System game engine, called the ''Marvel Super Heroes Adventure Game''. A role-playing game (sometimes spelled roleplaying game, RPG) is a game in which players assume the roles of player character, characters in a fictional Setting (narrative), setting. Players take responsibility for acting out these roles within a narrative, either through literal acting or through a process of structured decision-making regarding character development. Actions taken within many games succeed or fail according to a formal role-playing game system, system of rules and guidelines. There are several forms of role-playing games. ''Deluxe City Campaign Set'' is a role-playing game supplement published by TSR in 1989 for the '' Marvel Super Heroes'' role-playing game. Contents ''Deluxe City Campaign Set'' is a campaign setting that describes the New York of the Marvel Universe in great detail. One book (96 pages) covers what the GM needs to know to run a campaign based in New York City; the second book (64 pages) contains several scenarios set in New York City. In reference to real life, the Guardian Angels have an entry in this campaign setting. ''Murderworld!'' is a role-playing game adventure published by TSR in 1984 for the '' Marvel Super Heroes'' role-playing game. Plot summary ''Murderworld!'' is a scenario in which the villain Arcade lures the Fantastic Four into his amusement park, a twisted playground for assassination. ''Murderworld'' involves the Fantastic Four with the super-villain Arcade, who attempts to lure them out of their headquarters into various traps. ''Time Trap'' is a role-playing game adventure published by TSR in 1984 for the '' Marvel Super Heroes'' role-playing game. Plot summary ''Time Trap'' is a scenario in which the Avengers must travel through time to prevent the destruction of the Earth. Villains include Dragon Man, the Grey Gargoyle, and the Super-Skrull. In the ''Time Trap'', six of the Avengers fight Kang, a time-travelling super-villain who wants to trick them into destroying their own past.
