''Lone Wolves'' is a role-playing game adventure published by TSR in 1984 for the '' Marvel Super Heroes'' role-playing game. Plot summary ''Lone Wolves'' is a scenario set in New York City, pitting Daredevil, the Black Widow, Power Man, and Iron Fist against Kraven, Modok, Sabretooth, and maybe the Punisher. ''Lone Wolves'' is an adventure in which Daredevil, the Heroes for Hire, and Black Widow face an assortment of supervillains in New York, which irritates the Kingpin of Crime and puts the client of the Heroes for Hire agency at risk. TSR (company)
TSR, Inc. was an American game publishing company, best known as the original publisher of ''Dungeons & Dragons'' (''D&D''). Its earliest incarnation, Tactical Studies Rules, was founded in October 1973 by Gary Gygax and Don Kaye. Gygax had been unable to find a publisher for ''D&D'', a new type of game he and Dave Arneson were co-developing, so founded the new company with Kaye to self-publish their products. Needing financing to bring their new game to market, Gygax and Kaye brought in Brian Blume in December as an equal partner. ''Dungeons & Dragons'' is generally considered the first tabletop role-playing game (TTRPG), and established the genre. When Kaye died suddenly in 1975, the Tactical Studies Rules partnership restructured into TSR Hobbies, Inc. and accepted investment from Blume's father Melvin. Heroes for Hire are a superhero team appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The team first appeared in ''Power Man and Iron Fist'' #54 (December 1978), and was created by Ed Hannigan and Lee Elias. The team continued to appear in comics regularly over the years, and has made guest appearances in television productions and game environments featuring other superheroes. Publication history and original concept The Heroes for Hire concept originated with solo series titled ''Luke Cage, Hero for Hire''. As a "hero for hire", Cage tried to merge the usually pro bono world of superheroics with the bill-paying practicality of private investigation. Bruce Nesmith
Bruce Nesmith is a game designer who has worked primarily on role-playing games. He was Creative Director at TSR, working on a variety of games including ''Dungeons & Dragons'', and is a senior game designer at Bethesda Game Studios, where he has worked on AAA titles such as ''Fallout 3'', ''Fallout 4'' and '' Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion'', and was lead designer on '' Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim''.
