Lithuania
Lithuania (; lt, Lietuva ), officially the Republic of Lithuania ( lt, Lietuvos Respublika, links=no ), is a country in the Baltic region of Europe. It is one of three Baltic states and lies on the eastern shore of the Baltic Sea. Lithuania shares land borders with Latvia to the north, Belarus to the east and south, Poland to the south, and Russia to the southwest. Alphonso Lingis
Alphonso Lingis (born November 23, 1933) is an American philosopher, writer and translator, with Lithuanian roots, currently Professor Emeritus of Philosophy at Pennsylvania State University. His areas of specialization include phenomenology, existentialism, modern philosophy, and ethics. Lingis is also known as a photographer, and he complements the philosophical themes of many of his books with his own photography. Career Lingis attended Loyola University in Chicago, then pursued graduate studies at the Catholic University of Leuven in Belgium. His doctoral dissertation, written under Alphonse de Waelhens, was a discussion of the French phenomenologists Maurice Merleau-Ponty and Jean-Paul Sartre. Returning to the United States, Lingis joined the faculty at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. Vydūnas
Wilhelm Storost, artistic name Vilius Storostas-Vydūnas (22 March 1868 – 20 February 1953), mostly known as Vydūnas, was a Prussian-Lithuanian teacher, poet, humanist, philosopher and Lithuanian writer, a leader of the Prussian Lithuanian national movement in Lithuania Minor, and one of leaders of the theosophical movement in East Prussia. Biography The Storost family was a long-established family in East Prussia and Wilhelm was born in the village of Jonaten ( lt, Jonaičiai), near Heydekrug, in the Kingdom of Prussia. Wilhelm Storost was the name on his German passport, while Vilimas or Vilius Storostas was the literature Lithuanian form used by himself, his family, and other Lithuanians. Nida Vasiliauskaitė (; born 21 December 1975) is a Lithuanian philosopher and publicist. As of 2020, Vasiliauskaitė began to receive more widespread attention as a public figure for her views on political matters regarding freedom of choice, rising collectivism as well as the evergrowing influence of political correctness in the country's legal and cultural landscape. She positions herself as a conservative liberal and is the founder of a centre-left minor party Second Lithuania. Vasily Seseman (several other latinizations of his name exist, lt, Vosylius Sezemanas, russian: Василий Эмильевич Сеземан) (11 June 1884, Vyborg — 23 March 1963, Vilnius) was a Russian and Lithuanian philosopher, a representative of Marburg school of neo-Kantianism. Rolandas Pavilionis (July 3, 1944, Šiauliai – May 10, 2006, Vilnius) was a Lithuanian philosopher, politician and Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for the Liberal Democratic Party; part of the Union for a Europe of Nations. Biography In 1962 Pavilionis graduated from a night-school for workers in Šiauliai. He attended the school at night after finishing his work at a bicycle factory. The same year he was admitted to the Vilnius University to study foreign languages. In 1968 he graduated the university with a degree in philology. From 1968 to 1971 he continued postgraduate studies at the Science Academy of Ukraine and earned doctor's degree in logic.
