This is a list of the 314 districts of England ordered by population, according to estimated figures for from the Office for National Statistics. The list consists of 188 non-metropolitan districts, 32 London boroughs, 36 metropolitan boroughs, 56 Unitary authorities of England, unitary authorities, and two ''sui generis'' authorities (the City of London and the Isles of Scilly). North Northamptonshire and West Northamptonshire are new unitary authorities from 1 April 2021. The districts of England (also known as local authority districts or local government districts to distinguish from unofficial city districts) are a level of subnational division of England used for the purposes of local government. As the structure of local government in England is not uniform, there are currently four principal types of district-level subdivision. There are a total of 309 districts made up of 36 metropolitan boroughs, 32 London boroughs, 181 two-tier non-metropolitan districts and 58 unitary authorities, as well as the City of London and Isles of Scilly which are also districts, but do not correspond to any of these categories. Buckinghamshire Council
Buckinghamshire Council is a Unitary authorities of England, unitary Local Government in England, local authority in England, the area of which constitutes most of the ceremonial county of Buckinghamshire. It was created in April 2020 from the areas that were previously administered by Buckinghamshire County Council including the districts of South Bucks, Chiltern District, Chiltern, Wycombe District, Wycombe and Aylesbury Vale; since 1997 the City of Milton Keynes has been a separate unitary authority. Manchester () is a city in Greater Manchester, England. It had a population of 552,000 in 2021. It is bordered by the Cheshire Plain to the south, the Pennines to the north and east, and the neighbouring city of Salford to the west. South Yorkshire is a ceremonial and metropolitan county in the Yorkshire and Humber Region of England. West Yorkshire is a metropolitan and ceremonial county in the Yorkshire and Humber Region of England. It is an inland and upland county having eastward-draining valleys while taking in the moors of the Pennines.
