The following is a list of albums and singles released on DualDisc. The DVD side of some DualDiscs is DVD-Audio formatted. DualDisc
The DualDisc is a type of double-sided optical disc product developed by a group of record companies including MJJ Productions Inc., EMI Music, Universal Music Group, Sony BMG Music Entertainment, Warner Music Group, and 5.1 Entertainment Group and later under the aegis of the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). It featured an audio layer intended to be compatible with CD players (but too thin to meet Red Book CD Specifications) on one side and a standard DVD layer on the other. In this respect it was similar to, but distinct from, the DVDplus developed in Europe by Dieter Dierks and covered by European patents. DualDiscs first appeared in the United States in March 2004 as part of a marketing test conducted by the same five record companies who developed the product. The test involved 13 titles being released to a limited number of retailers in the Boston, Massachusetts, and Seattle, Washington, markets. ''A Valid Path'' is the fourth solo album by English rock musician Alan Parsons. The record was released on 24 August 2004 via Artemis label. Background The gap between this and his previous album, ''The Time Machine'', was the third greatest period between two consecutive albums, after the time between the split of The Alan Parsons Project and Parsons' first solo work (not counting '' Freudiana'') and the time between this album and '' The Secret''. In addition to contributors such as David Gilmour, another noteworthy musical credit on the album is Parsons' son, Jeremy Parsons, his debut appearance on his father's albums. ''A Valid Path'' was released on Audio CD and DualDisc, with the DualDisc containing the album recorded in 5.1 Surround in both DTS and Dolby Digital formats. ''Strange and Beautiful'' is Aqualung's first US album release: a compilation of tracks from Aqualung's first two albums: '' Aqualung'' and '' Still Life''. This compilation making up his first US release includes "Strange and Beautiful," "Brighter Than Sunshine," and "Falling Out of Love." The track "Brighter Than Sunshine" reached #32 on the Billboard Adult Top 40 Chart in the U.S. ''Strange and Beautiful'' reached #108 on the Billboard Top 200 and also hit #1 on the Top Heatseekers Chart. Matthew Nicholas Hales (born 17 January 1972) is an English singer, songwriter, musician and record producer who has been performing professionally under the name Aqualung since the early 2000s. Aqualung is best known in the UK for his song "Strange and Beautiful", which was featured on a television advertisement for the new Volkswagen Beetle during the summer of 2002 and went on to become a Top 10 hit in the UK Singles Chart later that year. Anssi Kela (born 29 July 1972 in Kerava, Finland) is a Finnish singer-songwriter multi-instrumentalist who has published six albums. During his career, Kela has sold over 230,000 records in Finland. He received four Emma awards in 2002. Anssi Kela comes from a musical family. His late father was a keyboardist and songwriter in a gospel band called Pro Fide, his mother is a cantor and brother a drummer. Kela began his musical career playing various stringed instruments, including the violin, cello and contrabass. However he was more interested in rock music, and wanted to play bass instead. At the age of 13 in 1985 Kela formed a gospel band Yhdeksäs hetki with his school mates. In the band he played bass and wrote the songs.
