The following is a list of characters that first appeared in the ITV soap opera '' Coronation Street'' in 2008, by order of first appearance. Tina McIntyre Tina McIntyre, played by Michelle Keegan, made her first appearance on 7 January 2008, Tina cemented herself as the new "gobby goddess" of Weatherfield. Tina was initially introduced as a new girlfriend for established character, David Platt (Jack P. Shepherd). She was shortly joined by her father, Joe (Reece Dinsdale), who ended up marrying David's mother, Gail (Helen Worth). ITV (TV Network)
ITV is a British free-to-air public broadcast television network. It was launched in 1955 as Independent Television to provide competition to BBC Television (established in 1936). Matt Carter (Coronation Street)
Dr Matt Carter is a fictional character from the British ITV soap opera '' Coronation Street'', played by Oliver Mellor. He made his first on screen appearance on 20 August 2010. On 30 June 2013, Mellor revealed that he had quit the show and Matt would not appear again. Storylines Natasha Blakeman (Rachel Leskovac) first sees Matt and confides in him that she has just had an abortion. Peter Barlow (Coronation Street)
Peter Barlow is a fictional character from the British ITV soap opera ''Coronation Street'', played by Chris Gascoyne from 2000. The character of Peter was born on screen during an episode broadcast on 5 April 1965, he was born along with his twin sister Susan (Katie Heannau, Wendy Jane Walker, Suzy Patterson, Joanna Foster) to parents Ken ( William Roache) and Valerie Barlow ( Anne Reid). Gascoyne made his first appearance in the role during the 40th anniversary live episode airing on 8 December 2000. Barbara Knox
Barbara Knox, MBE (''née'' Brothwood, formerly Mullaney; born 30 September 1933) is an English actress, best known for her long-running portrayal of Rita Tanner in the ITV soap opera ''Coronation Street''. She first appeared as Rita Littlewood for one episode in December 1964, before returning to the show as a full-time cast member in January 1972. Knox is currently the second longest-serving cast member in the show. The character of Rita is one of the most beloved and iconic characters on any British soap opera. Debbie Rush (born 29 March 1966) is an English actress, known for portraying the role of Anna Windass in the ITV soap opera ''Coronation Street'' from 2008 to 2018. Michael "Mikey" North (born 27 September 1986) is an English actor best known for his role as Gary Windass in the ITV soap opera '' Coronation Street'' since 2008. Gary Windass is a fictional character from the British soap opera '' Coronation Street'', portrayed by Mikey North. Cherylee Martina Houston (born 20 August 1974) is a British actress. She grew up in Morecambe, Lancashire, in the United Kingdom.
