Azerbaijan (, ; az, Azərbaycan ), officially the Republic of Azerbaijan, , also sometimes officially called the Azerbaijan Republic is a transcontinental country located at the boundary of Eastern Europe and Western Asia. It is a part of the South Caucasus region and is bounded by the Caspian Sea to the east, Russia (Republic of Dagestan) to the north, Georgia to the northwest, Armenia and Turkey to the west, and Iran to the south. People's, branded as ''People's Viennaline'' until May 2018, and legally ''Altenrhein Luftfahrt GmbH'', is an Austrian airline headquartered in Vienna. People's Artist of Azerbaijan ( Azerbaijani: ''Xalq rəssamı'') is the honorary title and award granted for contribution to the development of Azerbaijani culture. History The People's Artists of the Azerbaijan SSR (1931–1990) was a precursor award given during the time of the Azerbaijan Soviet Socialist Republic, Soviet Union. In May 22, 1998, the honorary title "People's Artist of Azerbaijan" was established by Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, along with some other titles. The President of Azerbaijan confers the honorary title on his initiative, as well as on the proposal of the National Assembly and the Cabinet of Ministers. The title is awarded only to citizens of Azerbaijan. According to the decree, the honorary title of "People's Artist of Azerbaijan" cannot be awarded to the same person repeatedly. Reyhan Topchubashova
Reyhan Topchubashova ( az, Reyhan Topçubaşova; 15 December 1905 – 5 March 1970) was an Azerbaijani painter, Honored Art Worker of the USSR. Biography Reyhan Topchubashova was born on December 15, 1905, in Quba. She studied at Technical School of Art in Baku in 1931-1935. In 1941-1945 she was Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Union of Artists of Azerbaijan. Since 1943 she was the Honored Art Worker of the USSR. In 1923 Reyhan Topchubashova married a doctor Mustafa Topchubashov. Her son Ibrahim Topchubashov was born in 1924, and in 1927 Zemfira and Elmira twins were born. She was one of the first Azerbaijani women painters. The artist's works had been displayed in national exhibitions since 1936. Sabina Shikhlinskaya ( az, Səbinə Şixlinskaya), born April 26, 1962, in Baku, is an Azerbaijani artist and independent curator. She works in painting, video and photography. Well known for her early modernistic paintings, she transitioned to contemporary art in the 1990s. She is one of the pioneers of conceptual art in Azerbaijan. Shikhlinskaya's work explores current problems in the relationship between individual and society. In art projects curated by Sabina Shikhlinskaya, the social subject also has high priority. Elmira Shahtakhtinskaya ( az, Elmira Həbibulla qızı Şahtaxtinskaya; 25 October 1930 – 13 October 1996) was a painter, Honored Art Worker of the Azerbaijan SSR, and the People's Artist of the Azerbaijan SSR. Vajiha Samadova
Vajiha Samadova ( az, Vəcihə Əli qızı Səmədova; 24 November 1924 – 24 October 1965) ) was Azerbaijan's first professional female painter and was honored as a Distinguished Artist of the Azerbaijan SSR in 1964. Shortly after her passing, her name was immortalized by dedicating a gallery hall in the Azerbaijan Artists Union to her memory. Presently, four of Vajiha Samedova's artworks are preserved and safeguarded within the collection of the Azerbaijan State Art Gallery.
