The Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Mongolia is the United Kingdom's foremost Diplomat, diplomatic representative in Mongolia, and head of the UK's diplomatic mission there. The official title is ''His Britannic Majesty's Ambassador to Mongolia''. Britain was the first Western country to recognise an independent Mongolia when diplomatic relations were established in January 1963 with appointment of the British Chargé d'Affaires in Peking, Mr Terence Garvey, to Ulaanbaatar as non-resident Ambassador. In 1964 Mr (later Sir) Reginald Hibbert became resident Chargé d'Affaires in Ulaanbaatar. He was succeeded by Mr Heath Mason, who was appointed as the first resident British Ambassador in 1966. In 1968 the Embassy moved to a new building on Peace Avenue where it is still located today. Catherine Elizabeth Jane Arnold, (born 10 November 1978) is a British academic administrator and former diplomat. Since October 2019, she has been the Master of St Edmund's College, Cambridge: she is the fifteenth person to hold that post and the first woman. The Rt Hon Christopher Charles Stuart was the British Ambassador to Mongolia from May 2012 to February 2015. He first joined the FCO in 1997, and had served in both the UK, and the Consulate General in Osaka and Embassy in Tokyo, Japan, before becoming the British ambassador. Thorhilda Mary Vivia "Thorda" Abbott-Watt (born 11 February 1955) is an English diplomat who currently serves as British High Commissioner to Tonga. Career Abbott-Watt joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) in 1974 and has worked both in London and in a number of countries in South America, the Far East and Western and Eastern Europe. Kay Coombs
Kay Coombs OBE (born 8 July 1945) is a British diplomat. She was a member of the British diplomatic service and was UK ambassador to Honduras (2002–2003) and to Mongolia (1999–2001). Coombs was born on 8 July 1945. Her parents were Beatrice Mabel (née Angel) and William Tom Coombs. After taking a BA degree at the Newcastle University, Coombs was employed by the UK government Foreign and Commonwealth Office in 1967. She was a member of several departments in London between working abroad at several embassies including in Bonn (1971–1973), Zagreb (1976–1979), La Paz (1982–1986), Rome (1987–1991) and Beijing (1995–1998). John Henry Durham (born March 16, 1950) is an American lawyer who served as the United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut (D. Conn.) from 2018 to 2021.
