''Interster'' (Afrikaans, ''Inter-star'') (author Dr Johann Beukes 1949–2007) was a two-season science-fiction puppet television series made for children and shown in South Africa from the early 1980s. At the time of its production the show was variously compared to the series '' Thunderbirds'', which was previously broadcast in South Africa in Afrikaans under the title Redding Internasionaal (International Rescue). The main plot involved an undercover planetary defense agency operating from Cape Town under the guise of an interstellar shipping company. The show mirrored the real world political issues of international isolation facing Apartheid South Africa with the Earth being depicted as a galactic pariah of the "Interplanetary League" due to its cold war with the planet "Krokon". Soweto TV
Soweto Community Television (Soweto TV) is a South African community television channel broadcasting in the biggest township in South Africa, Soweto. The channel is free-to-air in Gauteng Province and it also broadcast to South African subscribers on the DStv pay TV service on channel 251 and Starsat on channel 488. The channel's main studios are situated on one of the most popular streets in Soweto, Vilakazi Street; well known for being the only street in the world to have the historical residences of two Nobel Prize winners, namely Nelson Mandela and Archbishop Desmond Tutu. Nickelodeon Animation Studio is an American animation studio owned by Paramount Global. Nicktoons (Africa)
Nicktoons is a South African pay television channel that was launched on 30 September 2014. It is owned by Paramount Networks EMEAA, and is targeted towards children, broadcasting reruns of original animated series from sister network Nickelodeon along with other cartoons. It replaced the African feed of KidsCo, North Africa receives the Arabic-Language feed of the channel Nicktoons MENA. Unlike other Nicktoons feeds (since October 2021), the end credits on shows are no longer shows and were not replaced with short credits used by its sister channels. Gulli (; stylised as gulli) is a French free-to-air television channel focused on kids programming for those aged 3 to 14. It was created as a result of a partnership between Lagardère Active and state-owned broadcaster France Télévisions. In 2019, the M6 Group bought Gulli as well as the television division of the Lagardère Active Group.
