Ranch
A ranch (from es, rancho/Mexican Spanish) is an area of land, including various structures, given primarily to ranching, the practice of raising grazing livestock such as cattle and sheep. It is a subtype of a farm. Salisbury Downs Station
Salisbury Station is a pastoral lease that operates as a sheep station in the outback of New South Wales. It is located approximately north of White Cliffs and north east of Adelaide. The country is composed of sand dunes interspersed with clay pans. Areas of mulga are found on the property as are open downs of cottonbush and saltbush with areas of Queensland blue and Mitchell grasses. Stock can be watered by a large number of smaller ephemeral creeks and Altiboulka Lake which receives floodwaters from the Bulloo River. History Established at some time prior to 1881, it was owned by Lockhart Morton, with 1,000 ewes being stolen from the property the same year. Angas Downs Indigenous Protected Area
Angas Downs Indigenous Protected Area (IPA) is an Aboriginal Australian-owned pastoral lease, within the MacDonnell Shire area, south-west of Alice Springs, Northern Territory, east from Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa National Park (Ayers Rock), south-east of Kings Canyon/Watarrka National Park and from Mount Ebenezer Roadhouse on the Lasseter Highway. The property is a pastoral lease held by the Imanpa Development Association. It was declared and formally recognised as an Indigenous Protected Area as part of the Australian Government's Caring for Country scheme on 10 June 2009. The property forms part of Australia's National Reserve System. Previous land management practices and other anthropogenic pressures had damaged Angas Downs, and many native species have disappeared. Andado
Andado Station is a pastoral lease that operates as a cattle station in the Alice Springs region of the Northern Territory. The traditional lands of the Arrernte people before European settlement, the first pastoral lease was granted in 1880. The station includes the Mac Clark Conservation Reserve, created to help preserve the rare Acacia peuce tree. Amungee Mungee
Amungee Mungee Station is a pastoral lease that operates as a cattle station in the Northern Territory of Australia. Location It is situated about north east of Elliott and south west of Borroloola. The property surrounds the Bullwaddy Conservation Reserve to the north, south and west. The station abuts Tanumbirini Station to the north east, Beetaloo to the south east, Shenandoah to the west and Nutwood Downs to the north. The Carpentaria Highway passes through the property. Amburla
Amburla Station is a pastoral lease that operates as a cattle station in Northern Territory, Australia. The property is situated approximately north of Hermannsburg and west of Alice Springs. Amburla occupies an area of . The most productive area of the property are the Mitchell grass plains at the foot of Mount Hay and the relict alluvial plains of the floodout areas of Amburla, Charley and 16 mile Creeks. The sandy red earth of the floodouts support mulga woodlands. The northern part of the property is composed of sandplains supporting spinifex. Gary Dann, father of television actor Troy Dann, owned the property in 1989. The Danns sold the property in 2007 to Sterling Buntine. Alroy Downs
Alroy Downs Station is a pastoral lease that operates as a cattle station in Northern Territory. Location The property is situated approximately east of Tennant Creek in the Northern Territory and west of Camooweal in Queensland. Located on the Barkly Tableland a portion of the Playford River flows also through the station as does a portion of Buchanan Creek. It shares a boundary with Brunette Downs Station to the north, Rockhampton Downs to the west, Dalmore Downs to the south and Alexandria Station to the east. The Tablelands Highway bisects the property. Description The landscape consists of clay plains of various origins that support stands of Mitchell and other annual grasses. Ambalindum
Ambalindum is a pastoral lease that operates as a cattle station in the Alice Springs region of the Northern Territory. The property occupies an area of and in 2013 was stocked with 5,000 Santa Gertrudis-cross-cattle. The ephemeral Hale River runs through the property. Gold was discovered in the area in 1887 with the first cattle and sheep stations settled in the early 1900s. Ambalindum was initially settled by George Cavanagh. In 2017 the owners, Tim and Emily Edmunds, sold their Hale River Pastoral Company including the Ambalindum and Numery leases to a Canadian Pension Fund for over 50 million. Alexandria Station (Northern Territory)
Alexandria Station is a pastoral lease that operates as a cattle station and is the Northern Territory's largest pastoral property and Australia's third largest pastoral property after Anna Creek station and Clifton Hills Station. Location It is located about north west of Camooweal and east of Tennant Creek in the Northern Territory. Alexandria shares a boundary to the west with Alroy Downs and Brunette Downs Station, to the north with Mittiebah and Mount Drummond Station, to the south with West Ranken, East Ranken, Adder and Rocklands Stations and to the east with the Queensland border. Several ephemeral waterway cross the property including the Buchanan river, Ranken River, Buchanan Creek, Cigarette Hole Creek and other smaller tributaries. Yancannia Station
Yancannia Station most commonly known as Yancannia is a pastoral lease that operates as a sheep station in north west New South Wales. It is situated about south east of Tibooburra and north west of White Cliffs in the channel country of New South Wales. History The property was purchased in 1872 by William James Reid where he steadily improved the run after starting with no fencing until he had a flock of approximately 200,000 sheep. Thomas Shaw bought a half share in the property in 1877 which continued to 1895 when Reid sold his share to Shaw. The station occupied an area of over one million acres. Shaw paid £86,500 for the property of which 2,346 acres were freehold, 542,744 acres were leasehold and 546,867 acres were resumed area. It was stocked with 153,000 sheep, 310 cattle and 270 horses. Urisino
Urisino Station most commonly known as Urisino is a pastoral lease that has operated as both a sheep station and a cattle station in outback New South Wales. It is situated about north east of White Cliffs and west of Bourke. The vegetation is predominantly composed of Mulga and mixed native species including Bimble box. In 2014 the area had found to have been overgrazed by sheep and feral goats. History Urisino was owned by Samuel Wilson in the 1860s. By 1883 the owners had spent £28,800 on improvements. In 1894 approximately 120,000 sheep were being shorn at Urisino. In 1913 the property was running sheep and was being managed by Mr Tooth who was also the manager of Elsinora and Thurloo Downs Stations. Ursino was later was a strategic watering hole for stock belonging to Sidney Kidman. Uardry
Uardry Station, most commonly known as Uardry, is a pastoral lease that has operated as both a sheep station and a cattle station in outback New South Wales. It is situated about east of Hay and south west of Griffith and has frontage to the Murrumbidgee River. The country is composed of flat plains predominantly covered in saltbush. Uardry was initially established in 1840 by John Ray, with his partner Henry Angel arriving in 1844. The property was originally known as Wardry. Like most inland properties of the time it operated as a cattle station and Angel remained at the property until the 1860s. In 1864 the property was acquired by Thomas and William Wragge along with John and James Hearne for £1,000; they converted Uardry into a sheep station. The partnership remained at the property for 11 years. The name was also changed from Wardry to Uardry on the advice from a surveyor that Wardry was the name of another station further north.
