Eurodisco
Eurodisco (also spelled as Euro disco) is the variety of European forms of electronic dance music that evolved from disco in the late 1970s, incorporating elements of pop and rock into a disco-like continuous dance atmosphere. Many Eurodisco compositions feature lyrics sung in English, although the singers often share a different mother tongue. Eurodisco derivatives generally include Europop and Eurodance, with the most prominent sub-genres being space disco of the late 1970s and Italo disco of the early 1980s. The genre declined in popularity after 1986 in preference to electronic rock and hi-NRG, with a small revival of Italo disco in at least the late 1990s. History Eurodisco is largely an offshoot of contemporary American music trends going far back to the early times of R&B, soul, disco, pop and rock. Claudie Fritsch-Mentrop (born 25 December 1952), known by her stage name Desireless (), is a French singer. Between 1986 and 1988, her hit single "Voyage, voyage" made it to number one on many European and Asian single charts. "You're My Heart, You're My Soul" is the first single by German duo Modern Talking released off their debut album '' The 1st Album''. The single was released on 29 October 1984 but entered the top 40 in Germany on 21 January and entered the top 10 at no. 9 in Germany on 28 January 1985, almost 3 months after its release date. It took another 5 weeks for the single to reach the top of the German single chart, it spent six weeks at the number one position in Germany and total of 25 weeks within the German Single Chart eventually reaching a gold status for selling well over 250,000 units at home. "You're My Heart, You're My Soul" is considered their best-selling single to date with worldwide sales said to exceed 8 million copies. Magazine 60 was a French synthpop band founded by music producer, Jean-Luc Drion. Other members are Dominique Régiacorte, Pierre Mastro and Véronique Olivier. The group was best known for the 1984 song, "Don Quichotte", which hit the Top 10 in France and the Top 60 in the United States in 1986. Biography In 1981, the band released an EP, ''Magazine 60'', by Barclay Records. It sold over 260,000 copies in France, making the Top Ten, and became a gold record. One of the original singers, Danielle Delval left the band that year and was replaced by Michele Callewart. Linda Jo Rizzo (born 1 April 1955, in New York City) is an American singer, songwriter and producer, with Italian roots, currently based in Germany. Originally from the United States, she was a photo model and studied nourishing sciences in New York. There she met Bobby Orlando and participated in his group, The Flirts, from 1983 to 1984.
