Lisa Aguilera
Lisa Aguilera (born 30 November 1979) is an American former track and field athlete who specialized in the 3000 meters steeplechase. She represented her country at the 2005 World Championships in Athletics. the 2006 IAAF World Cup and the 2010 IAAF Continental Cup. She was a two-time national champion in the steeplechase at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Born in Phoenix, Arizona to parents Ruben and Chris, Aguilera attended Centennial High School before going to Arizona State University to study computer engineering and finance. She competed collegiately for the Arizona State Sun Devils, having previously won eight state-level titles in track and field while at high school. While at Arizona State she won All-America honors in cross country, indoor track and outdoor track, as well making the Academic All-America selection in cross country. 800 Meters
The 800 metres, or meters ( US spelling), is a common track running event. It is the shortest commonly run middle-distance running event. The 800 metres is run over two laps of an outdoor (400-metre) track and has been an Olympic event since the first modern games in 1896. During the winter track season the event is usually run by completing four laps of an indoor 200-metre track. The event was derived from the imperial measurement of a half mile (880 yards), a traditional English racing distance. 800m is 4.67m less than a half mile. The event combines aerobic endurance with anaerobic conditioning and sprint speed, so the 800m athlete has to combine training for both. Runners in this event are occasionally fast enough to also compete in the 400 metres but more commonly have enough endurance to 'double up' in the 1500m. These are the results of the 2005 IAAF World Athletics Final, which took place in at the Stade Louis II in Monte Carlo, Monaco on 9 to 10 September. The hammer throw events were staged separately on 3 September in Szombathely, Hungary, due to stadium limitations in Monaco. The year's top seven athletes, based on their points ranking of the 2005 IAAF World Athletics Tour, qualified to compete in each event, with an extra four athletes selected for races of 1500 metres and above.
