Lion Ferry was a Swedish ferry company which operated passenger and freight ferry services in Scandinavia and North America. History In 1960 The ''Prins Bertil'' enters service between Halmstad and Aarhus. Lion Ferry acquired Norwegian ferry operator Europafergen in 1965. It commenced the Portland - Yarmouth route operated by the ''Prince of Fundy'' in 1970 and closed in 1976. In 1973 it started a joint venture with Irish Shipping to form Irish Continental Line. Karlskrona (, , ) is a locality and the seat of Karlskrona Municipality, Blekinge County, Sweden with a population of 66,675 in 2018. It is also the capital of Blekinge County. MS Stena Europe
MS ''Stena Europe'' is a ferry owned by Stena Line and operated on its Fishguard— Rosslare service. Early career MS ''Stena Europe'' was built in 1981 by the Götaverken shipyard in Gothenburg, Sweden as MS ''Kronprinsessan Victoria'' for Sessan Line. During the same year Sessan Line passed under the ownership of Stena Line. ''Kronprisessan Victoria'' was used as a day ferry on the Gothenburg - Frederikshavn route until March 1982 when the vessel was converted to a night ferry for the Gothenburg - Kiel route. This involved building a large numbers of additional cabins onto the upper vehicle deck to make her suitable as an overnight ship. MS Regina Della Pace
MS ''Rigel III'' is a cruiseferry owned by the Greek-based company Ventouris Ferries. She was built in 1979 as MS ''Turella'' by Wärtsilä Turku shipyard, Finland for SF Line for use in Viking Line traffic. In 1988 she was sold to Stena Line, becoming MS ''Stena Nordica''. In 1996, she was transferred to Lion Ferry and was renamed MS ''Lion King''. In 1998, she was sold to Tallink and renamed MS ''Fantaasia''. As ''Fantaasia'' she also sailed under charter to Algérie Ferries, Comanav and Kystlink during the years 2005–2008. Following the end of her charter to Kystlink in 2008 the latter company bought her, renaming her MS ''Kongshavn''. MS ''Stena Nautica'' is a ro-pax ferry currently in operation between Halmstad and Grenå for Stena Line. She was completed in 1986 as MS ''Niels Klim'' and served on the DSB Århus – Kalundborg along with her sister MS ''Peder Paars'' until 1991. Concept and construction In September 1983 DSB ordered two relatively large ferries for service on the intra-Denmark Århus–Kalundborg route from in Nakskov, Denmark. Although ordered by the ferry division of the Danish State Railways, the ships did not have the facilities for transporting trains, but were constructed to transport road freight and passengers. Both ships were named after characters from the works of Ludvig Holberg, a Norwegian-born writer considered to be the father of modern Danish literature.
