Linköping Golf Club
Linköping Golf Club is a golf club located 3 km west of central Linköping in Östergötland County, Sweden. It has hosted the Scandinavian Enterprise Open on the European Tour. History The club was admitted to the Swedish Golf Federation in 1948 and the course was inaugurated by Prince Bertil, Duke of Halland in 1949, after construction of the first 9 holes had started in 1945. The full 18 hole course, designed by Rafael Sundblom and Douglas Brasier, was completed in 1956. Peter Fjällman and Pierre Fulke has since modernized elements of the course. Amongst the most successful players to come out of the club's youth system are Gisela Linnér, Claes Jöhncke and Krister Kinell. The club has hosted the Scandinavian Enterprise Open on the European Tour twice. In 1980 when Seve Ballesteros won ahead of Nick Faldo and Bernhard Langer, and in 1981 when Bob Byman won ahead of Sam Torrance. Linköping
Linköping () is a city in southern Sweden, with around 105,000 inhabitants as of 2021. It is the seat of Linköping Municipality and the capital of Östergötland County. Linköping is also the episcopal see of the Diocese of Linköping (Church of Sweden) and is well known for its cathedral. Bernhard Langer
Bernhard Langer (; born 27 August 1957) is a German professional golfer. He is a two-time Masters champion and was one of the world's leading golfers throughout the 1980s and 1990s. In 1986, he became the sport's first official number one ranked player following the creation of the OWGR. Langer is one of five golfers who have won professional golf events on all six continents where golf is played. Carl-Magnus Strömberg
Carl Magnus Strömberg (born 12 July 1962) is a retired Swedish professional golfer. In 1987 he won both the Swedish Matchplay Championship and the Swedish PGA Championship before joining the Challenge Tour and later the European Tour. Amateur career Strömberg was part of the Swedish team, together with Magnus Hennberg, John Lindberg, Johan Tumba, Johan Ryström and Jesper Parnevik, earning silver at the 1985 European Amateur Team Championship at Halmstad GK in Sweden. He represented Sweden twice at the Eisenhower Trophy. The Swedish Match Play Championship is a golf tournament played since 1904, held for both men and women. It is the oldest and most traditional golf tournament in Sweden. The name SM is shortening in Swedish language for "Svenska Mästerskapet" (the Swedish Championship). 1982 European Tour
The 1982 European Tour was the 11th official season of golf tournaments known as the PGA European Tour and organised by the Professional Golfers' Association. It was the first year that the schedule included a tournament outside Europe, visiting North Africa for the Tunisian Open. The season was made up of 27 tournaments counting for the Official Money List, and some non-counting "Approved Special Events". The Official Money List was won by Australia's Greg Norman. Changes for 1982 There were several changes from the previous season, with the addition of the Tunisian Open, the Car Care Plan International and the Sanyo Open, the return of the Portuguese Open; and the Trophée Lancôme became a counting event for the first time. The 1981 European Tour was the 10th official season of golf tournaments known as the PGA European Tour and organised by the Professional Golfers' Association. The season was made up of 22 tournaments counting for the Official Money List, and some non-counting tournaments later known as "Approved Special Events". The Official Money List was won by West Germany's Bernhard Langer. Changes for 1981 There were several changes from the previous season, with the addition of the Lawrence Batley International, and the loss of the Newcastle Brown "900" Open and the Merseyside International Open. European Girls' Team Championship
The European Girls' Team Championship is a European amateur team golf championship for women up to 18 organised by the European Golf Association. The inaugural event was held in 1991. It was played in odd-numbered years from 1991 to 1999 and has been played annually since 1999. Since the European Lady Junior's Team Championship for women under 22, was discontinued in 2006, due to the trend of players reaching elite level at an earlier age, the European Girls' Team Championship has been regarded as the most important junior team event in Europe outside the British Isles. Linnea Ström
Linnea Ström (born 14 October 1996) is a Swedish professional golfer. She joined the U.S.-based LPGA Tour after graduating from the Symetra Tour as 2018 Rookie of the Year. Amateur career Ström became a member of the Swedish National Golf Team at age 13 and was part of the Swedish team winning the European Girls' Team Championship in 2012 and again in 2013. She was a member of the 2013 Junior Solheim Cup Team and the 2012 and 2014 European Junior Ryder Cup Team. Ström and Marcus Kinhult, won gold in the mixed category at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games. Annika Invitational Europe
The ANNIKA Invitational Europe is an annual amateur golf tournament in Sweden for European girls under 18. The tournament, founded by Annika Sörenstam in 2012, is a qualifying event for the European team in the Junior Solheim Cup since 2015 and has been rated up to level "A" in the World Amateur Golf Ranking. Sam Torrance
Samuel Robert Torrance (born 24 August 1953) is a Scottish professional golfer and sports commentator. He was one of the leading players on the European Tour from the mid-1970s to the late 1990s, with 21 Tour wins. Torrance was a member of European Ryder Cup teams on eight occasions consecutively; on Cup-winning teams four times. He was also part of the winning Scotland team at the 1995 Dunhill Cup. He was the winning non-playing captain of the European Ryder Cup team in 2002. Torrance was honoured with the MBE (1996) and OBE (2003), for his outstanding contributions to golf.
