Line Østvold
Line Lunde Østvold (7 November 1978 – 19 September 2004) was a Norwegian professional snowboarder who specialized in snowboard cross (downhill obstacle) events. In 2001, she was ranked the number one World Female Boardercross Athlete as well as ESPN Winter X Games Boardercross Champion. After a bruised collarbone injury in 2002, she decided to retire, but when it was announced that her event would be included in the 2006 Winter Olympics, she re-entered the sport. On 14 September 2004, Østvold was practicing with the Norwegian national snowboard team in Valle Nevado in Chile, in preparation for an FIS World Cup race. She fell on a technical section of the course called the double rollers, suffering head and neck injuries which proved to be fatal. She was flown to a specialty clinic in Santiago de Chile, but never regained consciousness and died five days later, at the age of 25. Johnny Lunde
Johnny Anker Lunde (26 October 1923 – 2 April 2013) was a Norwegian alpine skier and engineer. He was born in Nore, and represented the club Konnerud IL. He participated at the 1948 Winter Olympics in Saint Moritz, and at the 1952 Winter Olympics in Oslo. He did not finish the downhill race in 1948, but finished a tied 20th in downhill in 1952. In 1949 he won the downhill competition which was part of the alpine combined in the Norwegian championship. He graduated as a construction engineer from ETH Zurich in 1949. After working in construction from 1950 to 1958 he spent his career in the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute until 1990, working with geomechanics. He resided in Sandvika. He was a grandfather of snowboarder Line Østvold. Hønefoss
__NOTOC__ Hønefoss is a town and the administrative center of the municipality of Ringerike in Buskerud county, Norway. Hønefoss is an industrial center of inner Østlandet, containing several factories and other industry. As of 1 January 2008, Hønefoss has 14,177 inhabitants. In 1852, Hønefoss received town status and was separated from Norderhov. In 1964, Hønefoss ceased being a separate municipality and became part of Ringerike. Etymology The town is named after Hønefossen, a waterfall on the Begna River. The first element is the name of the old farm ''Hønen'' (Old Norse ''*Hœnvin''), the last element is ''foss'' meaning 'waterfall'. Haugsbygda
Haugsbygd (formerly known as ''Vangsbygd'' and ''Vangsfjerdingen'') is a village in Ringerike municipality, northeast of the center of Hønefoss, in Buskerud, Norway. Location The village is known for its billowing landscape and is located at a relatively high elevation. Its area can be said to stretch from the border on Norderhov in the south to Knestang and ''Bølgentoppen'' at the border on Åsbygda in the north. Administratively, the area was part of Norderhov municipality before the great unification of the municipalities on 1 January 1964, but it currently belongs to the large municipality of Ringerike. Snowboard Cross
Snowboard cross, also known as boardercross, is a snowboard competition in which four to six competitors race down a course. Snowboard cross courses are typically quite narrow and include cambered turns, various types of jumps, berms, rollers, drops, steep and flat sections designed to challenge the riders' ability to stay in control while maintaining maximum speed. It is not uncommon for racers to collide with each other mid-race. Snowboard cross courses share common traits with motorcycle motocross courses, hence the similarity between the names of each sport.
